What I learned building out a pair of 2016 V20 Vendettas

By the way, I just want to give big Kudos to both Doug and Nancy. After figuring out what crank length might work a little better we drove out to a nice low traffic road and rode around for an hour or so. Both Doug and Nancy are riding their Vendetta's like "old timers" already! Great balance...

10,000 miles on My Silvio 2.1 time for a headrest mod!

Jon, Here's what I ride on my V20 - probably not what you had in mind, although based on my testing I picked up a 1/2 mph on the same wattage. They do take a "little" getting used to, but now I can just about ride anywhere with them. :)

    Wearing off shoe toe

No me - but I rarely do much riding these days where I'm pushing off a lot for starts. Once I am going I don't usually stop until my workout or ride is over. :)

    Amateur aerodynamics

Yes - get the crank length wrong and power numbers are off. I concur again. I think the difference is so small it is hard to measure without being in a wind tunnel or maybe an indoor velodrome. I got my CF 3-spoke wheels from asiancyclexpress.com They are very fast wheels. On my first set...

    Creak in V20 front triangle

Doug, The gray color is nice looking I we have clearly seen, but since you have "his and her" V's, you should really consider having them re-painted in the traditional "sky blue" and "pink". That would be a "one-of-a-kind" pair for sure. :) See you on Saturday I hope.

    Creak in V20 front triangle

Sweet looking ride Doug! Tell Nancy she looks great riding that V Go, Nancy, Go! I'll be happy to help. I can tell right now, Nancy needs shorter cranks. Her knee is already past 90 degrees and she still has yet to really pull the pedal all the way back. For now, try and use this...

    Bravado

David, I am certainly an advocate of shorter cranks, especially if on your back-pedal-stroke you knee is bending past 90 degrees. Between that and your Q-rings, your knees will love you! I actually built an adjustable crank so I could fine tune to exactly the size I wanted, but that is not...

    Bravado

This year, I have ridden a lot with Q-rings (1st 6 months) and a lot without (last 6 months). I have not found any real difference in my ability to ride with no hands on my Vendetta. I can do it for short times (under a minute or 2), and on nice level straight roads. (I'm no Jim Parker at it...

    Creak in V20 front triangle

Hey Doug - Way to go! Must take some pictures and post for us to see the V's. I remember I had some weird creaking on my V once. It would not happen on my trainer (Wahoo), but it would happen whenever I was on the road. I thought it was the front clamps for the longest time, but it finally was a...

    Mt Diablo ride with BARC

Very nice Cliff. Awesome decent! Great to see all those bents riding together. Man, there where some pretty big cracks in the road at times, and some rather unfriendly shoulders too. It is so weird how the visual of the helmet "never" changes but everything else does! So, what max speed did you...

    Amateur aerodynamics

Joe, I have found that a nice 88mm rim depth on my CF wheels from China performed equal to or better than a full disc wheel (with similar tires and tubes of course), same with 65mm Tri_spoke wheels. (I really think each one would probably be more beneficial under certain wind conditions.. Lots...

    Amateur aerodynamics

I have tested many many things at the SSTF. Also replicated many tests with matching results. It is time consuming and really hard to get a low to no-wind/constant conditions. This is my next project.. :) - Of course must sell it to the boss lady too! Joe, so much stuff to deal with as far as...

    Amateur aerodynamics

I do my testing on a closed loop (track of some sort - so you never have to stop or change pace), with little or no wind, and also back to back (i.e. Run a 5 mile with one wheel, stop and switch wheel and then run 5 miles again with new wheel.) Something else I do that I think helps is this: I...

    V20 Sizing Question?

Robert will probably chime in here with a lot more information, but unless you are extremely tall (thinking over 6'3") and with long legs, I'll be you will fit the standard size frame. The boom is adjustable and can fit a very wide range of sizes. I think the only difference in the standard and...

    Black Friday trike ride

Great Pics - Gayle says to say Hi to Joy! Hey Gary, I just thought of this. If the cranks where longer than you are used to on your V, that might help explain some of you pain. Get well soon - so we can go to the "secret test facility" soon and do some testing.

    Recommendations on lighting

Looks like I need some "lighting" on this ride!
