What if the end of the boom look like this

Yes an alternative to variable extensions Jeremy, Yes that's what led to the idea. There are only a few sizes extensions; and I had been thinking about what would happen if you replaced the tubular arms on the extension with adjustable length screwing bolts with locking positional nuts...

What if the end of the boom look like this

Ok this might be stupid but I find interesting. Perhaps this has been considered already. What would be the implications if the welded on stem clamp were removed from the end of the boom of the Silvo and the Vendetta? Replacing it would be an Outside slider like on the nose of the...

    Bullhorn and Dropbar Options

Yep I'm blind I have "multifocal" contact lens. The close to the eye mirror slows down the refocusing a far bit; if I'm tired the image gets fuzzy.

what you need to know... Ivan if you decide to do it here are the hidden things I didn't show, because they were too ugly for anything but a prototype. I was planning refining this when I do the second set and then show the cleaner way. However, I believe they are repeatable prototype that you...

Initial Conclusions on the Silvio 2.x Cockpit for distance riding

I gotta cut what? Yes that cut the fork steam is a scary one. Mrs Ratz's steerer tube was a tad to long and I didn't have an extra 2mm spacer on hand. So at 11pm we got the hack saw out to make it fit per spec. I'm not afraid to cut into anything as you've all seen; but that one gave me a few...

Mirrors I'm a long time user of Spy Mirrors so far I've positioned them in the following places for tests: 1) the non taped area 2) as far out as to the elbow. 3) on that adapter bracket you can see 4) on the boom. On the trainer tell me a little but not enough. Play with them...

Interesting... Those look deceptively further down in the distance shots; makes more sense now.

Quadlock and LifeProof Yes the Quadlock is on the short list; DC Rainmaker did a nice review on it. The LifeProof one showed up today; it's darn darn impressive. Barely bigger then the stock phone and waterproof to 6 meters. Quite nice piece of engineering. The bike bracket not so much kinda...

Initial Conclusions on the Silvio 2.x Cockpit for distance riding

In an ideal world ... Yep, In an ideal world ... Yep, and it's always hard not to feel like we are peeing in the pool. Don't take it that way, just pushing the envelope and adding to the knowledge base; while being happy to have a place to do it. Let the chainstay extension...

Initial Conclusions on the Silvio 2.x Cockpit for distance riding

Yep Eric mostly clarifying Eric, Figured that's the number you quote; but was not 100% sure everyone would follow what the number means. Since I said; greater than 460mm was mostly unheard of; I thought i should clarify that's a inside measure where the straight bars just happen to have an...

Initial Conclusions on the Silvio 2.x Cockpit for distance riding

The narrow delima.... I promised myself no novels today; but *sigh* maybe tomorrow. Hopefully this hangs together.......forgive the typos; stream of consciousness at lunch. Only time for one edit review.... Hardy, Over in your Aero and the handlebar post is seems you have setup a...

Did that fit that well? Rick, Did that Aerobag fit that well on the back of the stock seat?

Air brakes Eric, Would you like the iPad to be on a hydraulic or a pneumatic pivot arm? We could use thumb buttons to control the deployment of the brake with the push of a button. Could be really handy descending on switch backs. Seriously though I am searching for the smallest case...

    Bullhorn and Dropbar Options

Odds and ends that got left on the cutting room floor. Couple of odds and ends that never got posted. Caged animals ready to run. To keep junior cruzbikers off them you some ties have to be creative. Sometimes we ride blind in areas unfamiliar to us by map. Needed a way to...

Initial Conclusions on the Silvio 2.x Cockpit for distance riding

Et al. Eric you get commission on the those wahoo power trainers you sell right? darn good thing it's spring or you might be sneaking one of those into our house. As for the wind; the one advantage is you can play fetch with it; we'd never drive 100 miles out and deposit a car the night...

Initial Conclusions on the Silvio 2.x Cockpit for distance riding

Chomp chomp Ha Jeremy, I suppose that was painting with a broad brush of generalizations there... Sorry about that. That wasn't the spirit of what I was trying to say hopefully that was obvious and you are teasing me. But ok I'll blather on more about it..this will wander because I haven't...

Initial Conclusions on the Silvio 2.x Cockpit for distance riding

Didn't see those sizes That's interesting I never found thosein the 31.8 only the 25.4's. I had looked at those briefly and the Origin 8 Tiki bars might be able to be mounted frontward or backwards. In the end I skip both to avoid having to shim the bar. I wonder if the 31.8 size is discontinued.

Initial Conclusions on the Silvio 2.x Cockpit for distance riding

I thought I should take a minute to summarize what I believe I have learned in my project to set up our Silvio cockpits over in the carbon handlebar thread. I showed a lot of what we tested, including a lot of the failures that Charles thought would be interesting, but I did not at any point...

    Bullhorn and Dropbar Options

The lady declares it a keeper So after a lengthy session on the trainer; I was told that this configuration was staying on the bike. Of course that meant she needed to come back down and model some shots of how the final riding position works out. I must say I'm jealous of the smooth...
