Emmitt Smith Grand Fondo Century on 9/17/2016 - Results

Hmmm. Looks like he took a slightly different route thru Celina than the RWGPS route shows.

Yah, for you...a mere bump in the road. :D

Glympse has him passing 70mi. Still about 5min behind 4hr pace. Long climb to 78mi marker.

Approx 5 min behind 4hr pace. He's smokin' it. I wish we could see a leaderboard...

    Falling over

Practicing! I could easily do under 5mph on my V2/K. Vendetta is way different. Probably the higher BB and more seat recline. Thanks!

Next right turn is 66.0. Needs to hit it at 9:52am CST in order to be on 4hr pace.

Yup. Have both Glympse and the GPS map up. 7:14 means he's only slightly behind the 4hr curve. Hit 60 miles @ 9:43.

7am...he's 2:08 and coming up on the 45mile marker. Prob. not gonna do a sub 4hr on this century. The profile looks pretty lumpy. Gonna be way different than the NC coastal stuff.

Very cool to see the live track. Thanks for that! I'm with Jason, I thought the Gran Fondo app would provide tracking for the leaders...but it will only track one rider and you need to know his number. Ah well, I'm just glad he got there and is riding! What was his start time? With that, we can...

    Falling over

I don't think I could spin fast enough with a 42 to do the job. That's my trouble with the 36: if I spin hard enough to keep the bike upright, I run out of HR (and energy) pretty quickly. Per Sheldon Brown Gear Inch calculator, I would have to be spinning over 120rpm cadence to keep the bike...

White Mountain Double Century and Final Race for the CA Triple Crown Stage Race

LOL. My mother always said, "turn the other cheek". I never had much satisfaction from that tactic. Frankly, I would give them both cheeks... Macht nichts. Keep riding and keep reporting. Bless their hearts, indeed!

White Mountain Double Century and Final Race for the CA Triple Crown Stage Race

Excellent write up, Jason. Well done! Having been a competitor (not bikes) in the past, I have had my share of 'lack of integrity'...cronyism, cheating, etc. They finally got to me and I gave it up. I'm happier just doing my own thing now...but your story got my blood pressure up again...

What did you do to your Cruzbike today?

Re-clocked my Q-rings to OCP #1 (was #4). Haven't tried 'em yet but will do so Friday afternoon. @ #4, my average cadence has been running between 70-80rpm in the flats and then mid 90's for climbs. I've been running out of HR on extended climbs (esp. in this heat and with my low level of...

    Shine on you crazy diamond

I think I read somewhere that he stopped making the front light when some of the other companies started coming out with equivalent (and cheaper) front lights. I really like the Gemini as it has a wireless remote switch with dimmer. I still have a set of TurboCat halogen lights (still mounted on...

    Shine on you crazy diamond

+1 on EMS mode. The click sequence is no problem...except remembering which is which. Just will take doing it a few dozen times. Now I gotta concentrate on finding a front light. Still thinking the Gemini ought to do the trick. I really just need a daytime blinky right now...but by Nov., I'll...

    Shine on you crazy diamond

Light arrived Saturday. Battery and charger arrived yesterday. This is a very well made unit! Battery strapped nicely to the frame under the seat, light mounted to headrest. No problems...other than temporary blindness when I first got the crazy thing charged. Wow!! I do like the settings...

    Q ring upgrade - Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh......

Now you got me thinking I need a QXL inner, just as you suggested in another posting. Mixing a QXL inner with a Q-ring outer any problem? The metric I am planning to ride is Saturday...but the weather (and my left knee) may not cooperate. If so, I will spend the weekend re-clocking my Q-rings...

    Bend It Cycling Products

Did my 25mi ride last Saturday in my new "Expedition 2.o" shorts from Bend-it. The fit is excellent (XL) and the shorts were comfy...but a little hot for the weather. They're going to be great this fall. I also found that the little leg pocket flaps were probably designed by a DF rider. They do...

Oh crap...now I'm going to change something critical just before a major ride. Just as well, if I didn't change anything there would be a disruption in the farce...:D
