    New Q45 coming....

Rodbikes.com has Panaracer Pasela PTs in 28 x 571 (ie., 650c). I got some and they measure out to 26 mm width. Nonetheless, they run smoother than my 23-571 Conti 4000 II Gran Prix ‘s. So far, there doesn’t seem to be a big drop off in speed from the Conti’s to the Pasela...

    New Q45 coming....

You may be right about leaving the 559 behind, but I fear that will make it even harder for shorter people to enjoy recumbents. Does not seem to be a good trend....

    The upgrade I promised myself

Adding the Wolf Tooth does not increase the cassette width. It simply replaces the stock 42t largest cog with a 46t (blue) one. Gets you very close to the range of an Eagle group. It’s also nice that they come in varied colors. I have a red one to add a little bling to my S30.

    New Q45 coming....

So, what's the speculation on the upcoming "...exciting updates and options this Fall..." for the Q45? I've been kind of waiting to see how the Q evolves since I sold my two Q559s over the past two years. I think it'd be nice to see some modifications on the seat mount and height to...

Thanks, Ben. I figured the Cruzbike community was the best shot at moving the bike quickly for my relatives. Worked out fine, and the bike has a new home.

Quick sale! Q559 in Napa, CA

Bike is SOLD! Hi All, Well, this is a problematic sale brought on by the pandemic. I have a Quest at my sister-in-law's in Napa, CA (I'm in Madison, WI). She is moving and I need to dispose of the bike quickly. However, due to pandemic restrictions, I cannot get out there and she is a bit...

    Lightly used S40 for sale

Bike has been SOLD! Hi All, For sale is a 2018 model S40, one of the last of the 1st generation S40. I bought it as a frame kit from Rose City Recumbent Cycles and built it to my specifications. It has been ridden only intermittently and has maybe at most 500 mies on it total. Overall...

Here's an older Q559 with Gator bars. They work pretty well, but do run wide. Ray

Minimum achievable seat height on a Q45?

Thanks, this is very helpful. I believe you are right that it is very unlikely to fit a skewer in between the seat ribs. Nonetheless, all of this info pretty much gives me a feel for what can be done. May take a little imagination if I decide to tackle this. Thanks again! Ray

Minimum achievable seat height on a Q45?

Thanks for the useful comments and observations. Looks like there may be options to consider. As I said, I’d rather avoid smaller wheels mainly for the hassle factor and I really like the 26” Rene Herse (Compass) tires for this kind of riding. Overall, 24” seat height might be OK. 23”...

Minimum achievable seat height on a Q45?

Thanks for the reply. I have no problem having to rework the seat brackets to lower the seat an inch or so, as long as there is clearance to do so. Can I assume your Thor Easy seat is mounted with the standard bracket, which sets the height at 25 inches? What I’m looking for is an estimate...

Minimum achievable seat height on a Q45?

Hi All, Since selling my old Q559 I’ve been trying to find a good bike for riding poorly maintained limestone trails (often rutted and smallish potholes). My S40 doesn’t make it, even with soft 42 mm tires. Looks like I need suspension. My CB options seem to be: a) get a Q45; b) repair and...

    Front suspension

If I recall correctly, they had brass bushings in the connection at the bottom of the fork, and in the connection at the bottom bracket. Together they allowed for a small amount of angular movement that supported the suspension travel.

MI Cruzbike retreat 2020 - August 6-9, 2020 Benton Harbor Michigan

Sounds interesting, but I will just point out that the Hostel Shoppe is talking about a new version of their Recumbent Rally. I assume that'd be in the first or second weekend of August. It would be a shame to overlap the two.

    Q559 tire sizing question

If I recall correctly, the 26x1.5 size was as large as you could go with that fork. Even then, it was a tight fit. I eventually replaced the fork and never looked back. The newer unsuspended fork both gives more tire clearance and definitely improves the ride and handling, as Castlerobber...
