Silvio up for BROL bike of the year

You got my vote. I sent Bryan my votes this morning and included a short "thank you" for opening my eyes to the Cruzbike possiblities.

    Cruzbike slam on ActionBent site

Well...if actionable, it would fall under "libel". Slander is spoken-word, libel is written or printed. A good lawyer might force them to rephrase their comment...but to me, one man's "problem" is another's "solution"! I'm not a lawyer, nor connected in any way with the legal system...but I'd...

    Live Chat

Well, I joined the chat last night just in time to see Mark log off. Nobody else there, so I left. I'll try to remember Friday.

    Poor Man's Silvio?

I like it, Mark. Great rear brake solution...I looked at doing that too when evaluating a new frame when I found 700c wouldn't work and 650c might. Next time I see one of those tiny treks at the flea market, I'm going to get one.

    Interesting Trainer

Mark, I have a mini roller that is similar but uses a belt-driven fan for resistance. I used it with the Catrike for a while...but you're right, indoor training is boooooorrrrrriiiiinnnnnnggggg. Wait out the rain. Go ride tomorrow...we're supposed to have thunderstorms and tornados. :o

Test ride...Marc's conversion finally rolling along!

Test ride VII...showing off Too pretty today to waste it on housework...had to go ride! :D I had planned this as a "recovery ride" but it wasn't. Bro' Don called about 12:30 pm and said he was puttin' on his riding shoes...so I finished my buritto (Alabama is a hotbed of illegal/legal...

Test ride...Marc's conversion finally rolling along!

Test Ride VI, "The Marathon Route" Ah, what a lovely day yesterday was! Mid 60's, slight breeze in the morning (getting stronger as the day got on), etc. I decided "today was the day" to go for my favorite 'early weekend morning' ride. This is a route marked out for our city's annual Marathon...

Um, I forgot! I joined the group, printed out the chat time, stapled the note to my chest, took it home and... Thought about it Saturday. When's the next one?

Sofrider spotted in Florida bike shop

Hmmm...we're headed to Orlando in April (for a week). I wonder if the shop he visited would rent it out? There are a number of nice "rail-to-trail" rides in central Florida and I'm planning to hit at least one or two while we're there.

    Chilly vinter riding

I have a full set of Merino's, top, bottom, sox and a gore-tex windbreaker. I have neoprene booties to go over my riding shoes. I have a Merino balaclava. I have insulated gore-tex gloves. Heck, on days like today, if I wear 'appropriate' clothing I cannot bend my arms or legs... :? :lol...

    Chilly vinter riding

Riding alongside a doubter (my brother) on a DF, his main comment has been, "I'm amazed at how little movement there is in the MBB, I thought it would be swaying from side to side constantly..." Of course, this also amazed me when I first got on it. However, when you look at the force vectors...

    Century!!!!

Ah, if you knew how much time I have spent drooling over Gruppos and wheels on ebay... :P Actually, I have a small problem to overcome first: a garage full of bikes and a wife that is a better shot than I am. :o Although I am well-known to be an 'early adopter' I have to trust my "plan"...

    Century!!!!

Excellent report, Mark, as usual. I'm sitting here going thru my third box of tissues; been fighting a nasty head-cold all week. It is supposed to get into the 60's tomorrow (before dropping back into the 20's-30's w/rain on Monday) and it is unlikely that I'll be well enough to ride. So, at...

    Commute to work

Yeah, I find it most amusing. "...oh, but Lance would have caught you at mile 380 after your energy stores went negative from all that swinging about...!" I esp. like the fact that having one's boom swinging back and forth adds sooo much distance to the ride. :o I envy y'all's ability to...

    Commute to work

Now, now Mark. You should know from BROL that you must caveat that statement with, "by 'roadie' I mean a geezer on a comfort bike, towing a trailer." We all know that these Silvio things don't really climb at all. :x If he had been a Cat 1 rider on a Bacchetta, you would have been toast...

    Dark beer

Fosters = Budweiser They're quite similar, though Budweiser is an adjunct beer (not sure about Fosters). I have occasionally enjoyed a Fosters, though I must admit it is probably more about the name than the taste. Like most lagers, it is best enjoyed ice-cold...and quickly. ;) Best thing...

    Ticking noise

Words to the wise: Chase down those annoying noises! Last summer, Bro’ Don started hearing a ‘tick-tick’ (with his hearing difficulties, anything above his noise floor is probably noticeable 50 ft away). Standard problem solving ensues, no source is found (this is on his Optima Baron) and the...

    Best Question Yet

Love it. Kids are honest, they speak their mind...good, bad or indifferent. You should have challenged him for Pinks...not that you need a skateboard.

Test ride...Marc's conversion finally rolling along!

Test Ride V...20 mi Really nothing exceptional to speak of this time out. No changes, no problems (other than it was cold out). I am getting more comfortable every time I take it out. No "start up" wobbles, no attention deficit wobbles, nothing. I had resoldered my Speed sensor wire, so at...

    SRAM Red Silvio by Levendis

Beautiful pix, Lev. Keep 'em coming. Where did you find an old-fasioned frame pump? I can't believe anyone would use one any more...and quite frankly, I think it disfigures the svelte lines of the Silvio. I had one of those Topeak "Road Morph" pumps on my Baron, very small and tidy mount...but...
