Could you use two stainless steel Jubilee clips instead of the black clamps? ;) :) I think that the slightly, wider part of the Jubilee clips where the adjustment screw passes through would fit "underneath" the slider tube, allowing the main part of the adjustable band to contact the slider...

If you're going to use an eccentric bottom bracket to get the correct belt tension then I would highly recommend the Tr!ckstuff Exzentriker. I use one on my single speed (chain drive) diamond-frame bike. The Exzentriker is a superb bit of kit. I use mine with a Shimano 105 Hollowtech II crankset.

To answer LarryOz's original question - "Who wants a half-bike?". Probably not that many folk. However, lots of people want a Halfbike II. ;):) So far $840,000 USD has been stumped up on Kickstarter against their original $50,000 USD goal. http://www.gizmag.com/halfbike-ii/36889/...
