    I'm Back! Well..... Sorta.

I've been all too long off the Cruzbike, again. I got all tangled up with motorcycles for a while. Anything with two wheels, I guess. I decided my britches were getting too tight and my wind running short, but I knew just what to do. A buddy talked me into doing a ride in December and that...

    I got me a JONESING!!

First off, it dawned on me today that in a few days, it will mark 6 years of being a member of the Cruzbike community. That hardly seems possible! I had to work the math out on my fingers three or nine times before I could even believe it! I browsed through the forum, reading some crusty...

    Thinking about a Silvio 2

Thinking about getting a Silvio 2. Just reading on the website that it only accepts ten speed systems. I'm not a real fan of the ten, so I figured I'd probably stick to a nine. I get that you have to run an external bearing bottom bracket, so it becomes necessary to run a ten speed crank...

Getting started on my first conversion!

Got lucky, didn't Got lucky, didn't you!??! That's a great frame to build on and good wheels to work with. Great find!! Ditch the knobbies, though and buy some high pressure road tires. You'll be much happier. Take your time and build it right the first time. Most of all...

    Simply Another Training Ride

I've been breaking in not only a brand new Cruzbike rider, but also another brand new rider, period. A little background. My friend Rob is a recovering addict. Not just any recovering addict, he is also the leader for Celebrate Recovery at our church and is the local state representative...

    Longtime Cruzer checking in

Hi Everybody! I've been Cruzing for a few years now. Started out with a conversion and went right on into a Silvio. I've logged a whole bunch of miles on my Silvio and still smiling!! Glad to see some familiar faces still around. I'm anxious to see what the Silvio 2.0 is all about...

    CALPOLY Bike design class

Bill, I'm going to be up to SLO a few times in the coming months. My next trip is August 21, but I'll be up there plenty between now and December. Maybe we can get something together. Mark

Suitable donor frame?? Kirin MB 26 XR-75

It looks to me like it would be a pretty high seat pan. Maybe for somebody with long legs! Mark

    Silvio or Quest?

I have not ridden a Quest, but my gut feeling is; if you plan to travel and need the folding capability, get the Quest. If you have a lot of rough roads and want/need the suspension, get the Quest. For everything else, get the Silvio. Mark

    Just bought a Sofrider

Congratulations! You're in for a treat, just take your time and like you said, "ride through" the learning curve. Keep us posted on your progress. Mark

    Kickstand

I have to admit to dealing out some good natured teasing to people with kickstands, spoke protectors and spoke reflectors.. I know, I'm a horrible, horrible person. ;) It got to the point where I decided to take the Sofrider I am "borrowing" on a club ride and it occured to me I would hear...

    Backbone Skin Chafing/Irritation

My frame is the older variety without the seat back cut-out, so I cannot comment on your particular issue. I will say that I occasionally get chafed in my lower back, as in right above my butt crack (TMI, I know). This happens after time off the bike, or on longer rides than usual. It goes...

    Suspension or Not?

The only thing I can tell you for certain is there is a big difference between the suspension on the Silvio and the Sofrider. I think a composte bike rides much better than a steel or aluminum frame, so my initial feeling is that a rigid composite should be a pretty decent ride. Mark

    recumbent classifications

Makes sense to me. You can't pigeonhole any of the Cruzbikes with the current acceptable titles. The Silvio certainly isn't a high racer, even though it runs on big wheels. It's pretty much standard bicycle wheel base, so SWB doesn't fit at all. Mark

    Jeroen's Pleasure

Nice. What bar is that? It looks too shallow for a Gary. Nice to see Shimano finally figured out how to hide their shifter cables. Good looking bike! Mark

    Silvio vs Tica

I think you answered your own question. As you spend more time and fine tune your techinque, I believe you will see your averages go up. You're on the right track, you just need to be patient and give it time. In fact, I suggest you stop looking at your computer for awhile and just enjoy the...
