    Seat Pads absorb power??

I'm no expert, nor am I winning any races, but I do have well over 10k miles on my quests, after a decade of riding other bents. Long ago I was on a competitive rowing crew, and understand that motion, which has no seatback at all and the seat bottom slides freely: every bit of power is between...

    Seat Pads absorb power??

MBB bikes are fundamentally different than other recumbents in the way the seat back is used. On most recumbents, power is generated like a leg press machine: between the pedal and the seat back. Softness or give will eat power in that situation. But on a cruzbike, power comes between your...

    Diatech Headset Adjustment

I have the whole fork including headset from a Q2. It's leftover from when I bought the better (rigid, stiff) fork/slider from the Q100. I keep thinking I'm gonna do something with it but it's been long enough and I haven't. Are you near Seattle, by any chance? But frankly, you should do the...

Korea Q45 solo from Busan to Seoul

Nice! That's a lot of great bicycle infrastructure (those dedicated tunnels!) But no other bikes. Did you seed other riders? What did they think of the Q?

    Riding in the rain

As a year round commuter in rainy Seattle, I couldn't make it without a fairing. The ability to mount a fairing is how I got into recumbents in the first place, and I've built several for my various ones over the past couple decades. Feet are dry. Hands are dry. It's way warmer behind that...

Cheapish rear shock comparison. Kind air shock dual V DNM 22 coil

Huh! This was in 2001-2, and I was in Hobart. It wasn't the pavement but the narrowness and lack of shoulders. The east coast roads are so beautiful : Hobart-Frejinet, Port Arthur, down to Cygnet, etc. But no shoulders at that time past the airport, and lots of hills, so slow riding. The only...

Cheapish rear shock comparison. Kind air shock dual V DNM 22 coil

I'm not going to get into these arguments. I used to live in Tasmania (terrible roads for biking, narrow and no shoulder at all, lots of blind curves). But it was striking how Tasmanians would refer disdainfully to "North Islanders", who returned the favor by equally disdainfully announcing that...

Cheapish rear shock comparison. Kind air shock dual V DNM 22 coil

I only have experience with the stock Q spring shocks (Q2, now Q45) and the Kind A5 RR1 which is far better. I will hold up Seattle potholes against anything you have down there, and on my daily commute route I have come to know them (too) well. Bad spots that I would instinctively tighten up...

    "kweeky kweeky" rear noise

As noted above, noises travel through the frame and are maddenly hard to track down. Check each spoke; are any possibly rubbing? This can happen only when precise forces are imposed so can be very intermittent. Beyond that, get an air shock (search these forums for A5-RR1). They are lighter by...

    How to ride hands free?

Funny how these topics come up again and again. First suggestion is to search the forums for “no hands” or “hands free”. There’s tons of discussions and advice. To the above good suggestions, I’d just add that I found it easier to learn on a slight uphill. That forced me to keep pressure on the...

    Recumbent Butt

I have a Q45. Not sure if this is relevant to the V .... I think recumbutt is due to soft tissue compression and resulting reduced blood flow. The stock Q seat has a thin layer of dense foam on the bottom, with a thicker layer of softer foam above. That was giving me recumbutt, I think...

Do headwinds affect your speed more than tailwinds?

Where does this come from? Please explain. It seems to me that - if we're only talking about wind resistance - that the aerodynamic drag is due only to the relative wind. Riding 20mph in still air produces the same relative wind, thus the same drag, as riding 10mph against a 10mph wind. Or...

Shortening the steerer tube of Q45

Huh! I like an upright position and wish my steerer tube was a bit longer! Maybe you could send me your extra piece and I'll tape it on or something... ;-)

    Q45 My first 100 miles

(Also re @ratz message above "The air shock is from ali express is a "Kind Shock A5-RR1" that's the one everyone used to upgrade the Quest V1, V2. I do not know for certain it fits the newer Q45 but I think it should". [Yes, it does, but see below]) I mounted a new 165mm A5-RR1 on my Q45...

    Stop the flop

What about the kickstand? The Q45 is the first cruzbike to have a truly functional kickstand. Then put the rear wheel into the rack and lock it up.

    SeaBum 2018

Welcome @Cassowary , I agree with @Lief that it's easier to learn sitting more upright. Then you can start off just coasting, slightly downhill, and get the feel of the bike and how it handles. Beyond MBB, the weight distribution is unique and takes some getting used to ... but it's worth it...

Another iteration of anti-flop device for S40

I’d be surprised if that worked in the real world. Like @RojoRacing said, you need a LOT more leverage, namely pulling from a distance, and from the side. With that small a moment arm, the spring gets stretched only slightly when the front end is turned. And after a certain amount of turn...

Don't you have a rack for your Q? Just put the piano on the rack. It's supposed to be plenty strong.
