Can't say I've had that issue. Thru axles do sometimes need a little wiggling to line everything up as they slide through, toward the threads waiting on the other side. Hopefully you are just on a minor learning curve, and it will get easier.

Currently running 28mm outer width (22mm inner width) rims and 30mm tires on my V20c, with no clearance issues. I love this setup. Gained comfort and speed over my previous wheels.
