Round top I milled the top with a 3/16 radius roundover bit which hits both top sides, then I used 3/16 corner bit and rounded the lower edges with the work piece on an angle. I still had to do some filing to get the right size. It's kind of tricky. The first one I made I did by hand. I've also...

    Reading the tea leaves II

increase a Quest's performance I have nothing against the Quest as it is out of the box. The shifting is great and it's the most comfortable bike I've ever been on. The reasons for my changes are evident at speeds above 18 mph. Above 18 mph the amount of work to maintain speed greatly increases...

Something to chew on Here's my turbo charged Quest, all road components, 700cc aero wheels, road calipers(used the kick stand bracket for the rear brake mount). Had to make a 5mm spacer for the 135mm front hub and recenter the rim on the hub.Added Vendetta handle bars. This bike is all...

Initial Conclusions on the Silvio 2.x Cockpit for distance riding

Vendetta bars Here's a photo of my girlfriends Silio 1.5 with Vendetta bars and a 40mm extension. The Vendetta bars have a real nice bend for the shifters and flare at the end for more leg room. They are Origin8 PRO PULSION GARY-2. Available in 25.4 and 31.8. $38.00

Vendetta or Silvio A good comparison of Silvio 2.0 and the Vendetta. The Silvio has a 58mm extension and Vendetta handle bars. The Vendetta has no modifications. Very similar position and very similar rides. The Vendetta is probably faster but I only notice a difference at speeds above...

Front wheel drive and why it fails the "stability when you most need it" test.

Bad stuff I ride with some Bacchetta people and they do OK on the flats but when we start to climb, all they see is the back of my helmet fading away in the distance. I'm always surprised when people are confronted with a learning curve, they throw up their hands and go back to their wheelchairs.

Suggestions Here's a suggestion. I have both a Vendetta and a Silvio 2.0. Why not scrap the Vendetta and sell the Silvio with options( or vise versa). The Silvio, for example, could be sold with the Vendetta front end and steering boom, giving you basically the light weight and speed of the...

Longer carboyoke I think making the carboyoke longer would open up another can of worms. I would think that as you make it longer you would need to increase the thickness to maintain the proper flex.

PDF I'll try to give this to you in inches. 6 is 0.23", 6.2 is good, 10.2 is 0.375", 10 is 0.375". The 64 is my first prototype, the one in the picture is 58mm. Everything else looks good unless the folks at Cruzbike have any suggestions. The aluminum I used is 7075, I understand that 6061 is...

    Extension Here are the dimensions: X = 10mm Y = 8mm A = 40mm Z = 68mm Height = 64mm O = 8mm No heat treating. Flat black paint. Hope these measurements will help, I think it's a good idea to get actual measurements from your particular bike.

Extension I make the extension out of a piece of solid aluminum, aprox. 3/4"x 3" x 3". Depends on how long you want the extension. I hog out most of the material with a carbide saw and then use a drill press and a mill for final sizing. It's very important to get everything square and...

Silvio with Vendetta handlebars After making an extension for the Silvio (lowering the handlebars) I found the need for more leg room. Through Jim Parker I found a source for the handlebars used on my Vendetta (only $40). These bars are a very nice fit. I also made a simple clip made out of...

    Vendetta or Silvio?

Vendetta vs Silvio If I could only have one bike I honestly could not make the choice. Both are fast and comfortable. With or without the extension they have very similar rides. You do notice the suspension of the Silvio and it is better on chip seal roads. The Vendetta seems faster but that...

    Vendetta or Silvio?

Milling tools I do have a few tools but it still took about 6 hours to make. A simple CNC program could do these by the hundreds and at any length you want. While the extension is not an absolute necessity it sure improves the ride.

    Vendetta or Silvio?

Sivio extension I recently made an extension for my Silvio 2.0. It's about 60mm. This allowed me to dial in the exact handlebar height and BB height I wanted. I've found that I gain the most power when my hands are in line with my feet as is the case with the Vendetta. I made the extension from...

    Vendetta or Silvio?

Di2 on Vendetta Just installed Di2 on my Vendetta. By using the steering boom to house the battery and junction box I was able to achieve a supper clean installation. The vendetta is made for Di2.

Where exactly does the boom clamp go?

Shop time I was in the cabinet industry for 35 years. If someone came to me to work on a cabinet that they had not purchased from me, I would charge at least 80$ an hour. My Silvio took about 6 hours to complete, from start to handlebar tape. These people are in buisness to make money , not to...

Hurray! Silvio 2.0 is now shipping!

Rubber sleeves You can see them between the backrest and the clamp. They fill the space so the bolts will pull straight through the clamp. Being rubber they are easy on the fiber backrest.
