    Q45 ltwoo egr groupset upgrade

Those would work best if you change your handlebar to flared dropbars like these: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005594611843.html The flare helps to avoid hitting your knees when shifting gears. 440mm or 460 would work.

    First Cruzbike s40 vs v20c

Yes, under certian conditions: 1. Wet surfaces/loose surfaces (especially without sufficient momentum) 2. Sudden increase in torque 3. hill starts especially starting on super low gear I find riding the S40 from 13-15% (and above) likely to create lose of traction. At these steep grades it...

    Affordable "Cruzbike" Short Cranks

To add to what Larry said, I came across the online calculator below, though Iam yet to try anything shorter than 165mm (which came with my S40). Iam currently using 170mm cranks becuase I got a crank based powermeter on it. http://www.recumbents.com/wisil/misc/crank_angle.asp

    First Cruzbike s40 vs v20c

If you like climbing steep grades and would like to use the 1x drivetrains then, I suggest atleast a 1:1 gear ratio at the lower end or even less. The reason is that there is no "off saddling" on a recumbent. You can "bridge" for a short time(5 - 10 seconds) but extended climbs need a good low...

    Affordable "Cruzbike" Short Cranks

145mm? Great! I've only seen 140mm, 150mm, 155mm, 160mm on aliexpress. I had not seen 145mm though. It would be nice to include the aliexpress link.

    145 mm cranks

How well does it climb steep hills compared to your 170mm? Did you need an adaption period. If you had comparative power numbers, that would also be very informative.

Thanks. I could'nt quite figure which of the listed apps matching that name actually takes into account the crank length. However , I found out that the good old Sheldon Brown's Bicycle Gear Caclulator has it all!. https://www.sheldonbrown.com/gear-calc.html Gain Ratios is...

    Short crank questions answered here

I think, if the leg speed remains the same, then the shorter the crank the higher the cadence. So, to compensate for the increased cadence, for the same power, the chainring has to get smaller. But it is not clear by how much. (Probably there is a good gear calculator online that we need to...

    Short crank questions answered here

Is there an adaptation period? When I first moved from 170mm cranks to just 165mm(stock S40 cranks), it felt a bit harder to push (naturally becuase the leverage is reduced) but it took a while to get used to it. Climbing did not improve, despite the noticeable increased cadence (that new...

    Preferred Pedal Type

I prefer MTB SPD (two bolt cleats) becuase I can move them further back easily to my midfoot by custom drilling my shoes. I had road cleats (3-bolt plastic cleats) in the past but they are difficult to customize for midfoot and they wear out much faster. However they were much wider and which...

Cross-Training Bent & Upright - Better, Worse, or Neutral?

I occasionally get on my DF for a change. The power translates quite closely to my S40 but is a touch higher on the DF. I noted the following: 1. The DF is noticeably lighter than my S40 ( by more than 3.5Kg). It is therefore more responsive to accelerations. 2. I climb faster on the DF ...

READ: Chainstay Clamps PSA and PRO Tip

For my case, (a 2019 S40) they also had started cracking but I inserted some 4 washers ( one for each bolt, between the clamps and the chainstay) that I got some from an old road bike stem. I tightened them using a torque wrench to I think about 4Nm if I remember corrrectly. It has stayed put...

Interesting Observation going from 2x11 to 1x11 (v20c)

Well, you know , that tiny 10-tooth sprocket cannot fit a standard shimano HG free hub. It's just the way it is. :) You have to change to either a Micro-Spline or an XD-SRAM hub. No other way . But the 10-36 cassettes are readily available, just not for HG hubs.

Interesting Observation going from 2x11 to 1x11 (v20c)

Now just try a 11-42 wide range 11-speed cassette (46T x 11-42) and it will pretty much replace the 50/34 x 11-28 system. You may just need to use a derailluer hanger extender https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006397636360.html
