T50 Limited for sale - SOLD

Back when I sold my S40, I started he. I had a few people who weren't in the market comment that my price was good and that it should sell quickly. Then nothing happened. After four weeks of that, I moved my ad onto ebay with the same price, and sold it quickly with a five-day auction. I...

    Cruzbike 3000 Mile Challenge 2021

Hi Larry. I sent you my interest via email a while back. Just checking in here to make sure that you have Craig Mathews on the list. If not, sign me up.

    V20 Handlebar Options???

It seems that handlebars are one of those high personal preference items, up there with crank arm length and headrest design. I use the Genetic Digest flared dropbar (weird name and hard to find, but light weight, affordable, and I love the shape). I don't cut off any of the length, but being...

    V20 Bottom Bracket

In my experience, you can't go wrong with the SRAM GPX bb. They last a long time (I've never worn one out or had the bearings get crunchy), and they don't cost much.

Are you a pusher or puller?

I mostly ride my V20. I tend to pull when I need to on the hills and sprints, but most of the time, my arms are doing just light work to keep the steering stable.

    Cruzbike S40 in Nairobi, Kenya!

The V20's speed is completely addictive. I have owned a V20, S30, and S40, and have never found the V to be that much more to handle in traffic. And once I do make it to the less travelled roads, the thing just wants to romp! And since your head is closer to the ground than the more upright...

    Handlebar configurations--S30, specifically

Your chainstay looks to be about the right length, which is good. Do you happen to have the original Cruzbike seat pan and headrest? Some people really like the Thor-style seat, like what you have, partly because it offers more shoulder support, and brings the shoulders more upright, creating...

    Headrest options

The stock headrest has always worked for me. I am a shorter rider, and I did need to cut the internal legs of the headrest a bit shorter so that I could slide them into the frame far enough. I also created a curved bending jig so that I could bend the headrest forward a little bit, putting my...

    Vendetta Winterizing

That's quite an experience! I've used road tubeless for years now, and have never gone through what you describe. The idea of a sudden front wheel blowout on a V20 is pretty horrifying, but in my 35 years of road riding, I have never had that kind of flat on any bike. Punctures? Sure. I...

    Rim brakes on new S40.

Google "long reach brakes." I believe that Ultegra brakes are standard reach.

    Rear rack or underseat rack.

I would say it partly depends on your purpose. Heavy, loaded touring? Under seat (though probably both under and rear, with the heavier stuff going down low). Commuting, light touring, and errand running? A rear rack should be fine, and those panniers will be a little easier to access.

    Cruzbike Voile Nylon Brake Strap

You could also use a nylon tie-down with ratcheting buckle. My wife uses them to strap her kayak to the roof rack on her car. You would need to shorten it, but that's easily done. https://www.amazon.com/nylon-tie-down-straps/s?k=nylon+tie+down+straps

Condisering 24-hour Record Attempt in Savannah, Ga - need crew

That is excellent! Living in California, I can't swing being on the pit crew, but whoever can will be part of something great.

"I can't believe you did all that on a recumbent."

Lots of toys! I see a Felt road bike, another mystery steel frame road bike on the stand, a fat bike, and what looks like Q45. With apologies, I am mostly useless when it comes to wheels with motors. I'd love to have a big space like that.

    Learning my S-30

The bike is remarkably adaptable to to a wide range of heights. I would start out with the bike in its original configuration, with no wedges or extensions, and go from there. It does take a bit of tinkering to find the best fit, but you should be able to find it. Learning how to ride this...

And what better than to have an old Bridgestone on the stand for a freshening up. Nice!

"I can't believe you did all that on a recumbent."

Funny. I'm the mechanic for most of my riding friends and neighbors too. They ask me when I can open "The Shop."

    Learning my S-30

You'll get there. And you will also find your preferred cadence with time. I spun more on a DF bike than I do on my CB.

HooDoo 500: When someone says recumbents Cant Climb (short vid)

I ride sans data, except for what Strava tells me after my rides. I can hold roughly the same average speed on my S30 as I can on my V20, but the sensation of speed is noticeably different. I feel slower on the S30 because my head is a bit higher from the ground, while the V20 feels faster...

    S30 for Sale - SOLD

A fit/learning suggestion: if you have all of the original parts, return the bike to its to its original design/layout, learn that first, then tweak as needed. I say this because my first CB was a V20, the most challenging bike to learn in the lineup. That 20 degree recline was super scary at...
