2022 Vendetta V20c with carbon fiber front end

I pulled the trigger on one of the early V20c's to replace my V20, which is really an older V.2 with a V20 front end. I'm looking forward to the refinements (thru axles, flat-mount disc brakes, and sure, a little lighter weight). As for climbing (and I do love climbing on the V), and flat-land...

    S40/V20 Cruzbikes

Oh, I am 54 right now, and bought my V about seven years ago. While I've been having a blast on the bike, I have wondered what it would have been like to have such a bike back when I was, say, 35.

    S40/V20 Cruzbikes

Yup, yup, yup, to all the above. I have owned both the V20 and S40, and the V20 is the more comfortable of the two for me. I'm also a speed junkie, so the V suits my riding style. It is the harder of the two to learn on, but it is the one that I learned on first. Painful lower back stiffness...

    S40 in the fleet

Ah, yes. The headsets are different, with the bearings dropping directly into the headtube on the S30. I have heard of people packing cartridge bearings with super viscous lube, which might give you some of what you notice with the S40's ViscoSet.

    S40 in the fleet

I don't see why you couldn't fit the S40 front end to an S30. As long as the S40 fork steerer tube diameter is 1 1/8, which I'm pretty sure it is, then it would be an easy conversion. You would need to cut the steerer tube to the right length. If the fork rake is different, the handling might...

@Frito Bandito Ah! There's an idea!

I guess it's all in the name

I did the Chico Wildflower Century today on my V20, and three times, at three different spots on the route, I heard, "All right, that guy's cruising" (or, "cruzing"). I also had a DF roadie snob ask me, "What the f_ _ _ are you doing?" as he passed me going the other way at the bottom of the...

    V20 for "everyday" riding?

@Frito Bandito Yeah, I'm light and can climb, but back in my DF days, when those big guys got those diesel engines going on the flats, I was always toast! I like that cycling let's people play to their strength, and that those strengths can vary from rider to rider. It keeps things...

    V20 for "everyday" riding?

Climbing has always been my strength (I'm one of those smaller, lighter riders), and I have not found the V to be much of a liability on longer, sustained climbs. I have even bettered some of my old DF climbing times on the V. I don't ride much with racers and hammerheads, but on century...

    V20 for "everyday" riding?

If money and storage space aren't too limited, the best approach is to put together a quiver of bikes over time. I have my CB S30 for commuting, errands, and social riding, my V20 for all things vroom-vroom, my full suspension mtb for the rough off-road stuff, and a hardtail for the smoother...

    WTB: medium chainstays

I have an S30, no front suspension, and I switched to a short chainstay because I'm, well...short. So I do have the original medium chainstay set aside, perhaps looking for a new home. This is the older design, when the clamps went around the bb cups, requiring cups that have a flat surface...

2022 Vendetta V20c with carbon fiber front end

I ride JCOB carbon cranks, 160mm. They have a more affordable aluminum crank in 150/155 length. These use the Shimano 24mm spindle, which will fit the appropriate T47 bb just fine. Here's the link: https://speedandcomfort.com/collections/short-cranksets

    knees and hills

Over the course of six years of riding various Cruzbikes, I have had no knee troubles. Getting the right fit is important and can involve some trial and error. Also, many CB riders, including myself, use shorter-than-standard cranks arms, which helps to keep the knees from bending too much...

How to make your Vendetta as fast as possible

I own and ride both a V20 and S30. Both are fast, efficient, climb well, and gobble up miles. I've done several centuries on each, with similar results and perceived fatigue. For me, the V20 is a little more fun to ride, and when speed and distance really matter, like for a double century, I...

    oval chainring

@Randyc3 Yes. You are spending a little less time in your pedal stroke in the power stroke, and a little more time in the dead spot. Better for your knees, perhaps, but it works a bit against your power.

    oval chainring

@billyk Yeah, what John describes sounds about right. @trplay With my Doval rings on a five-arm spider, I was running them about 90 degrees off from where they are now. I had the wrong five holes lined up with the wrong five holes, and rode them that way for a long time.

    oval chainring

Here's my story: I had been running Doval chainrings (out of South Korea, no longer available) for years according to the positioning suggestions for recumbents. Then, as an experiment, I mounted a set of Osymetric rings ("If a little bit of ovality--Doval--is good, would a lot of...

V20 for Sale in Florida - SOLD

I do agree. The Spy mirrors do not have the clearest optics, and at first I didn't like them. But over time I got used to them and can now tell what is behind me me without issue. I like them because they are small, east to mount out of the way, and light weight. But you're right that there...

Yeah. Mirrors are must. The Zefal Spy mirrors work fine for me.

V20 for Sale in Florida - SOLD

@mcdavidst I have owned and put many miles on the full CB range, and had no trouble moving back and forth between the bikes. Once you have the mbb pedaling dynamics down, it pretty much transfers across the models. While the Quest and S40 were a little "easier" to ride, the V has consistently...
