    Houston I have a Problem

Here's a photo showing my riding position (also for @Eric Winn ). The seat pan is as far back as it will go, the slider-handlebar joint is as far forward as it will go, and the bars rotated forward as far as possible without excessive wrist rotation. Like @Bentnail , I don't want to lean the...

    Houston I have a Problem

Yes! That describes my situation exactly (including the earlier part about loving the bike, but ...). I wrote earlier about being slower uphill (than my previous Q2), despite the stiffer front end. I'm convinced that it is the closed-up arm position that keeps me from using my upper body...

    Q45 (100 miles) vs Q2 (9000) compared

Swingarm pivot height: Q2=22.75". Q45=21". That's what accounts for the Q45's shallower head angle. The same frame lowered 1.75" in the rear. Seat pan back to handlebar center (seat all the way back, bars all the way forward): Q2=24". Q45=20.25". That's the difference in the riding position...

    Q45 (100 miles) vs Q2 (9000) compared

"the above info" is correct, but it DID change the head angle because the rearward shift of the shock mount results in lowering the height of the swingarm-frame pivot point, thus tilting the head tube back. Imagine lengthening and shortening the shock on a Q2: The head tube would tilt forward...

    Q45 (100 miles) vs Q2 (9000) compared

I'm pretty sure that, except for the braze-ons for the seat mount, the Q45 frame is identical to the earlier Q2 frame. The head angle is changed because the shock angles back, tilting the frame back. So replacing the front triangle on the Q2 would be the same experiment as replacing the swingarm...

    Q45 (100 miles) vs Q2 (9000) compared

I have more than 9000 miles on my Q2 (upgraded to QX100, see below). Now I've done about 100 miles on my new Q45. Most of these miles are on my daily commute (5 miles each way, about 2/3 on city streets, 1/3 on a bike trail). Most of the rest are errands and shopping. This post is a comparison...

    Q45 My first 100 miles

Since you don't seem to need the lowest gear, you could just get a larger chainring. That's what I'm going to do on mine.

    Creaking front end

Spokes!?! I had the most annoying creak (that's an exact description, it absolutely sounded like metal working against another piece of metal). Just like yours, especially pedaling, and especially under load. Went through everything, just like you, then someone on this fine forum suggested...

    Fairing on a Cruzbike?

Several threads on this here. One describing my homemade fairing in detail (Quest 2) is "New homemade fairing for quest" at http://cruzbike.com/forum/threads/new-homemade-fairing-for-quest.6959/ and there are others.

    THE NEW Q IS COMING

Very good point! This is absolutely correct. After some experimenting, I combined two fenders to make one complete one.

    THE NEW Q IS COMING

And another question: the kickstand. The photo in the insiders email "Climb like a mountain goat" showed the bike leaning on its kickstand but the front end is not leaned around like we know it will. In my experience (Q2), that leaning around can make the balance delicate, especially if there...

    THE NEW Q IS COMING

I like the idea of the 1-11 gear setup. Are you going to tell us the range? (whatever units you want, or simply the tooth count of the chain ring and largest-smallest sprockets). Also the wheelbase would be nice to know. Seat height?

Is it safe to drill chainstay bridge?

Yes, but by the same token, changing the mudguard (they wear out before the frame) might require a different mount. Then you'd've made a permanent mod for a temporary add-on. The P-clamp is an excellent idea, at least to try out the mudguard setup. Maybe you can make it work for the adjustable...

    THE NEW Q IS COMING

The V, S, and Q markets are different, and they are clearly pitching this for commuting, or touring with baggage. That's my use. I need an upright seat for the urban traffic I spend my time in, to see and avoid the many potholes, dogs, children, people crossing the street staring at their...

    THE NEW Q IS COMING

Lucia titillates us a bit more this morning ... On quick look: - the use of a full-length shock does give a lot more choices. As far as I could tell the only available 125mm air shock was the Kind AR-RR1. There are more possibilities at 165mm. - Are those two-tone bikes??!!?? YMMV, but that...

    THE NEW Q IS COMING

@Lucia - you have probably never posted a photo online that been scrutinized, zoomed in on, drooled over as much as this one. You really know how to keep a bunch of guys in suspense.

    THE NEW Q IS COMING

Well, that is very interesting (and thanks for the link and search pointer). Thus, with the Q's single pivot point, the angle of the shock makes no difference at all for the pogoing, yes? Of course the angle does affect the efficiency of the shock action, which would still suggest that it be...

    THE NEW Q IS COMING

Brilliant! But I wonder about the angle of the shock. Isn't a shock supposed to be as perpendicular as possible to the force exerted on the pedals? That minimizes pogoing, which occurs when the rider is pumping the shock with each pedal stroke. The original Qs had such a shock orientation, but...

    Quest front suspension

Hi Ben - I have not seen a Q100, so this applies to the Q2/3, but in fact I think they are the same. Someone else on this forum will certainly know. Does the black ring at the bottom of the steering column say "Diatech"? There are no tiny allens involved. All the allens around the boom clamp...

    Quest front suspension

Actually I've come to like the Diatech headset, although it does need occasional tightening. - Make sure the split in the steerer tube is lined up with the open back of the boom clamp. - With the headset loose, press down on the boom clamp and tighten it hard. The conical Diatech ring needs to...
