Initial impressions of Silvio 1.0 vs 2.0

I took the newly acquired Silvio 1.0 out for a 40 mile ride in rolling terrain 2 days ago. Here are my initial impressions of the 1.0 vs the Silvio 2.0 that I have had for 3 years. Speed: Here the 2.0 has the hands down advantage due to the more reclined seat position. Still, the 1.0 was no...

Good to hear from you Jeff and thanks for the advice. I'm having a lot of fun on the Freerider as long as as there is no intense hill climbing involved.

    Riding with DF groups

On rides with my bike club friends I regularly ride with DF riders with no problem. On most outings the conventional bikes outnumber the 'bents. There are probably no more than 25 bent riders in our club membership of 225 and that would be counting the trikes. The group I ride with are not the...

If I had Jeff's big hub motor on the back wheel and hit the throttle that could have happened. Actually though, he is clipped in with a harness. He jumped out of his basket once when he spotted a squirrel and he dangled over the side. He hasn't jumped out since.

    Pannier rack idea

Taking John's advice I mounted this old Blackburn MTB rack onto my Freerider using stainless steel struts purchased at my LBS and bent to the shape needed.

I put a rack on the Freerider and took our dog Fredo out for a spin around town. Trish snapped the photo before we left for our ride.

Thanks for the electrifying tips guys. Jeff & Abram used what they called pinion drive rear hub motors which they thought were superior in some way. I know they said the motor did not put any drag on the drive train at all when in pedal only mode. I'll check out the system you mentioned Super...

A local man had been trying to sell his Freerider and Silvio 1.0 on Craig's List for 6 months with no luck. I mentioned to him that he would have better luck using the Cruzbike Forum but he did not want to deal with the hassle of packing & shipping the bikes. Yesterday I made him an offer on...

Couple blogs while crossing the USA

Sorry, I don't have a photo of Joy's Silvio rack setup. Keith adapted the Thule rack to her Silvio, getting the rack level by cutting out a piece of the plastic top on the rack to allow it to move forward a few inches. The Ortlieb recumbent panniers mount under her seat via straps that go under...

    Portland Cruzbike retreat

It was a pleasure meeting other Cruzbike crazies at Camp Lacamas. Now I don't feel like the only person flying the Cruzbike banner. It was so much fun hanging out and riding with Lief, Abby, Keith, Joy, Robert, Jacob, Tom, Larry, Elliot, Suz, Bob, Tanya, Rick, Jeff, Abram, Maria, Lucia...

Couple blogs while crossing the USA

I had the pleasure of meeting Keith & Joy at the recent Cruzbile Retreat in WA. They came up with a unique method for attaching Ortlieb recumbent bags to the Silvio. Joy was very impressed by her test ride on the new Vendetta so what is next for this adventurous couple?

    Flipped by a Vendetta

I spent 28 years in the sludgy heat of Central FL. I remember club rides with the Florida Freewheelers (Orlando)- sucking on my Camelbak almost constantly while sweat poured off my nose in a steady stream onto the top tube of my road bike. We moved to Corvallis, Oregon 8 years ago and have...

    New and Improved Headrest Clamp

I just saw this topic - what a great fix for what, for me, was the most frustrating part of assembling my Silvio. I always thought the original head rest clamp assembly was a mickey mouse setup at best. I'm surprised they are still using it. I had thought it might have been improved upon in the...

    Portland Cruzbike retreat

Me & the DW will be there. She is not a Cruzbiker, she rides an old Bacchetta Giro, but just possibly she will try a few out at the Retreat and get Cruzbike fever.

    Loving it...

That's right Robert. It's a magical feeling when everything is clicking, speed wise, on a Cruzbike. What is amazing to me is the bike's ability to keep the speed up when encountering a hill compared to a RWD 'bent. I just love medium size rollers - hit 'em fast, stay in the big ring and watch...

Looking for an Ambassadors for Cruzbikes

I would be willing to help, however I think my Silvio 2.0 may not be the most newbie friendly bike. Also having to readjust the front derailleur for leg lengths different than mine would be a disincentive. I am thinking of adding a Sofrider to my stable which seems like a much better mount to...
