    XShifter...new wireless shifting option

Their website is evolving and now have better descriptions, etc. Looks like they've developed a set of mounting options that they're dangling out as a premium for hitting their $100K stretch goal. I like the bottle-cage-mount adapter. Appears to fit standard cage spacing and position the...

    XShifter...new wireless shifting option

Yeah, I misstated what I ordered. I ordered the road remote with 2 shifters (Xshifter combo), not the "dual".

    XShifter...new wireless shifting option

Yah, I went in for the dual road version too. I'll probably test it keeping the brifters. If all is well, I'll decide then whether to ditch them for simple brakes or not. Interesting that they are looking into controlling other stuff (not just shifting) as well. Auto-shift, etc.

What did you do to your Cruzbike today?

Yah, and the more I think about it, the more insane it is to even attempt. It is at the top of a short climb, the sidewalk is quite narrow and the walk is standing proud of the grass/dirt by a couple of inches. IOW, there's no safe bailout either direction. I survived, the bike survived...we...

What did you do to your Cruzbike today?

Miz Diane is doing quite well, although sore as expected. Thankfully, this was not emergency surgery just preventative. My left knee was really sore for a day or so and although I could put weight on it, it felt very tight and unstable. It did not like the hospital chairs at all. :( This...

What did you do to your Cruzbike today?

What am I doing today...? Hobbling about, doing a post-crash inspection. :( I've been off work since Tue as our contract paperwork, etc. hasn't caught up. Sometimes happens. I'll probably be 'unpaid' thru this week. Kind of like being retired for a week. Ah well, it is a 5-yr contract which...

    Roads not built for cars

Early bike stuff is fascinating. A couple of years ago I had to transcribe a ragtime piece called "The Little Scorcher". That's when I read about the 'scorchers' and how they terrorized Denver, etc.

    Shine on you crazy diamond

I will give that a try. There is very little clearance between the tire (a 28) and the cross bar and I wanted to get some additional diameter so that the unit would have a bit more solid mounting. I'll try it stat (with tape) and then if that isn't stable enough, I'll fab an eccentric adapter...

Ankling & Foot position as affected by Boom, Crank and Chainstay length

Ah, that's just the morphine talkin'.:rolleyes: Yah, I'm a firm believer in NOT making changes just before a race. I just wish I could follow my own advice. o_O

Ankling & Foot position as affected by Boom, Crank and Chainstay length

So... What about Jason's "90 degree" position? Looks to me that it is well past 90 degrees. Not sure exactly what the reference frame is for that measurement but Miz Diane's knee therapist (she got new knees a year ago) uses a knee protractor. The therapist bases the angles on the bones (hip to...

    Shine on you crazy diamond

Finally got to ride in full dark yesterday evening. Big thumb's up for both the Gemini Duo and the DS-500 lights. The Gemini Duo provides lots of light, I never felt I was outrunning its throw. Was able to ride nicely on the 'medium' setting. The DS rear light is like sitting on a flamethrower...

    Shine on you crazy diamond

I haven't had a chance to ride the Gemini lights at night...yet. I've just got the 2-cell battery (not doing 12/24, no issue). Good to know it can last!

What did you do to your Cruzbike today?

Lit up! Got my Gemini mounted on the headlight-fin. Looks pretty sweet. It fits nicely on the chainstay spreader (underneath) without any sort of added mount but I wanted to try it on the fin. Bought a "Paul's" mount, works nicely. Also made my ADEM to DS-500 adapter today. Sawed off a bit of...

A very interesting CYCLIST article about climbing

I really gots no dog in this fight, I'm overweight and underpowered. Most of my 'leaning forward' is done to help me control the bike at low speeds. My mental preference is to 'spin' and when I was riding my Baron, I usually climbed the steep stuff at 100rpm+. There was a steep little bugger...

What did you do to your Cruzbike today?

Been in South Carolina cleaning up after the hurricane. After Matthew departed the area, the weather was clear and cool...perfect riding weather, but I didn't have a bike! I spent the week picking up sticks, limbs and branches...then raking all the leaves, etc. My neighbor across-the-street was...

Longer quick release options (DT Swiss 240s disc brake)

Same here. 145mm = perfect on Hope disc hub. Jason made me do it. :)

Anybody using a disc brake on the front wheel of new V20?

I'm over 200 and have my V20 set up with 160 front and 140 rear (TRP HY/RD). I cannot lock the rear wheel (skid the tire). However, I think once the pads seated, the balance is good, feel is excellent. I considered going to 160 on the rear but now think they're fine.

Innovators, a better part is needed!

Leave it to McMaster-Carr to have the right item. :D I love their website...considering that back before PCs, the McMaster catalog weighed about as much as I did...and was a b*tch to find anything in. I need a couple of other small parts from them, so I'll add that one to the list. Thanks Jason!

What did you do to your Cruzbike today?

$149.95 for the config I purchased...from either source. Shipping cost is ~1/3 from Action ($7) vs Gemini ($22)...and I simply failed to remember that when I decided to order.

What did you do to your Cruzbike today?

Actually, I ordered it direct from Gemini (light and battery). Shipped direct from China, FedEx dropped it on my doorstep. I'll have to check but I think it was only a week turnaround.
