Welcome! Clipless pedals are good to have, but not a "must" in most cases. I ride my Silvio with clipless pedals, but my Q451 has pinned platform pedals. There are commercially-produced pedals with heel slings, or you could certainly rig up something suitable.

They're called conversations in this forum software. Left-click on the name of the person you want to send a PM to. You'll get a small pop-up box with more information about them, and several options. One of them is "Start a Conversation".
