I have never hit anything with the bags on the underseat rack. On the S40 there is good clearance. This can be helped as well by using front bags like the Ortlieb front rollers

Also on an older bike - check the cable itself and the housing. If there is corrosion or something is binding shifting problems will remain. Sometimes replacing housing and a cable works wonders. Robert

Many shifting issues can be traced to a bent hanger. Even a slight tweak to it will create issues.

Wheels will make the single biggest difference in how a Cruzbike rides, handles speed, corners, and brakes. Tires a close second.

With a 46" x-seam - on pretty much any recumbent - a person will be on the outer edges of the fit. This is just a reality we have to deal with. A larger chainstay will definitely help this as it will put the pedals up and out further. On the boom/slider overlap - as long as there is a good 2-3"...

There is no real order to the SNs - the best bet is to examine the features/color.etc - each model has several "tells" as to its year etc... Post a pic if possible and I bet we can narrow it down. Robert

No through axles on the S40 - yet. That will be a big change as it requires significant changes to the front end and how all those items interface, new derraileur hanger design, etc etc. Also an entirely new rear dropout design will be needed. It also means all new chainstays and NO retrofitting...
