"Winter" - Cruzbike Virtual Time Trial Challenge

Here is my TT for week #8. I improved my PB by "only" 23 secs. Guess you beat me Jason. https://www.strava.com/activities/2205814847 I tried what Jason suggested last week: Setting Zwift trainer difficulty to 100% for this try. Hills were oh so hard to go up. I did try shifting some, but...

"Winter" - Cruzbike Virtual Time Trial Challenge

All super good points Jason - lets take this off this thread and email some ideas back and forth to see if we can come up with something "better" for the Summer Challenge. - Larry

    Calvin's Challenge Cancellation

I was just in a WUCA board meeting and a few member appeared to confirm that this event was cancelled. I don't not want to start any "rumors" here but a few said that Maria was supposed to have "purchased" the "Calvin's Challenge" race from Larry Graham, but she never did. I believe that this...

Zwift - Cruzbike Activities (races and group rides)

Yes, I rode this race, but I am usually winding up my morning ride by the time this starts. Still it is always good to get in a 1 HR TT effort once a week, so I will probably adjust my schedule to do it. About today: I did not feel all that "great" today compared to last week same ride, and it...

"Winter" - Cruzbike Virtual Time Trial Challenge

The only problem I really see having a steep indoor ride like "Alpe du Zwift" is the "difference" between how long it will take between the "faster" and "slower" rider at the beginner. Right now on a relatively flat Watopia course the difference between fastest and slowest times is about 10...

"Winter" - Cruzbike Virtual Time Trial Challenge

Yes Ben, The actual "idea" here was to allow Zwift rides and segments since most of us could not ride outdoors in the winter. By far the best would be to establish an actual "outdoor" segment of about 15 miles to do every week (or whatever). I gave the option of having both an indoor and an...

Test riding a true racing recumbent

I was there and saw the data with my own eyes. As far a yaw angles go. This is what I have been led to understand. Yaw angle of 0: This is what you would get on an indoor velodrome with basically no wind (other then what you are creating pushing through it). This is the best possible scenario...

"Winter" - Cruzbike Virtual Time Trial Challenge

Yes we finished week #7 - I have already ridden my week #8 TT, so I had #8 in my brain. I update my results post with the correct week.

"Winter" - Cruzbike Virtual Time Trial Challenge

Results for week #7: We had 2 new participants this week: Welcome Alex H. & Brian V. - who obviously set new Personal Bests! That now brings total participants to 14! Wonderful. 5 of us managed to set new PB's too: Cliff, Jim F, Larry, Robert, and Hardy - way to go everyone. I (Larry) managed to...

Jim and Maria doing RAAM Texas Challenge and Blue Ridge Parkway

I am confirmed as going now - I will arrive in San Antonio on Thursday the 21st. Pray for Jim's knee to "heal up" by then.

Test riding a true racing recumbent

I believe it is because of the lower seat angle. I have the same thing happen to me on my Raptor (which is 11-12 degrees) when compared to the V20 (at 20 degrees), and I have compared other bikes and models too. This makes a huge difference on Zwift, where we are not given any aero advantage for...

Test riding a true racing recumbent

I saw an interesting "result" happen with "rumpled jersey". I was at the A2 WindTunnel with Cruzbike a while ago. Jim Parker put his skin suit on (no small feat by the way) - went in the wind-tunnel, came out, switched to his super loose, flapping in the wind Jersey and go a lower cda value...

Jim and Maria doing RAAM Texas Challenge and Blue Ridge Parkway

Jason, sure you can't make it to this event. You probably would tear it up. I think the fastest speed anyone has done (in recent history) any any bike is about 18.8mph for the 214 miles. There were some faster times back in 2012, but I think it was a shorter and flatter course - not sure though...

"Winter" - Cruzbike Virtual Time Trial Challenge

There is another segment called "Volcano Flat 2 laps from Arch". This is what I use and I make sure I don't pass the arch at all on my warm-up so I don't have to crop my file for the segment to get "sensed" correctly. I also used my Garmin and hit the lap button on it as soon as I pass the Arch...

Brain, Glad to have you in the TT - Please email you weekly result to me at larryoslund@gmail.com, with the segment you are using along with you the result that you see: your time. This helps me double check what I see - plus Zwift has quite a few segments (2 lap) versions and I want to make...

"Winter" - Cruzbike Virtual Time Trial Challenge

Alex, I think I am going to try and do the 5:35am'sh Hare and Hounds race on Zwift each Wed morning. Seems like a good time and don't mind doing a 1 HR TT each week. Good for the heart! I also did the 160Km "B" event on Zwift last Saturday. But it was really early at 2:45. It was a blast...
