    Hand fatigue

The more time you put in on the bike the more relaxed your grip will get, especially if you are just cruising. I have found that eventually the leg muscles will adapt and be able to pretty much steer the bike on their own. Things that help this for me where: practice spinning really fast >100 -...

Anyone going to Calvin’s for 2018

I was originally going to go, but am attending the Raven Rock Ramble on the same weekend near Raleigh, NC. I think Jim, Maria, Doug & Nancy Klein will all be there on their Cruzbikes, maybe some others too. A nice leisurely Century ride!

    Cruzbike KOM/QOM challenge 10-31-17 thru 10-10-18

Way to go Ken: I am probably out of the "race". I train M-F indoors and ride on my local track on Saturday. The only time I get to "do" other outdoor rides is when I go on vacation somewhere!

    Cruzbike KOM/QOM challenge 10-31-17 thru 10-10-18

Yes - hate rules to a certain degree - You make them because you need some guidelines, but them someone always bends them to their will. I certainly would not do what you suggested Jason, and I have confidence that everyone else in the Tribe has the same level of maturity. To me a segment should...

    Climbing hills on a V20?

I did not know, but read up on it a little bit. It really looks like recumbent riding "almost" uses Alexander Technique because you hips are pretty fixed from going forward and back with the pedals like they do on an upright. The other part of the AT is appling power with the heals, or nearer...

    Climbing hills on a V20?

MY BB is 27.5" from the ground, so yours is way higher than mine. Mine is set ideal for my shoulder height. Also with the M5 there is no adjustment in the BB height, the only thing you can do is build the seat up if the seat to get a more ideal seat to BB height differential if needed. There are...

storing and eating/drinkin for long rides (100+ miles) on Silvio or Vendetta

What a fun read - a blast from the past. Haha My first Century on a my first Cruzbike. A Silvio. Those were the "good ole days". haha. Total time of 5:25. We were on vacation on Hilton Head Island, SC. 5 days later I did 100 miles in just under 4:46 on a different route where I did not have to...

    Climbing hills on a V20?

Osiris -= Yes, it almost looks like the center of the BB is aligned with the bottom of the seat. For reference, mine is around 7" above. My boom is nowhere horizontal either but definitely more than this picture. Get the BB at the right height is a dance between crank length, chainstay length...

    Climbing hills on a V20?

Thanks Ed. You are right. I am a small guy and not really very powerful. I have spent most of my time testing and refining my Vendetta and me to be aero together. That is why 200watts can get me 25mph. My lowest calculated CdA using the Chung method was about 0.154.

    Climbing hills on a V20?

Nobrakes, You are correct about total bike weight, and the more climbing the more the total weight makes a difference. You are also correct about a lower BB is better for climbing. A high BB is better for aero because it cuts a hole in the air where you shoulders are. Chances are, because you...

    Climbing hills on a V20?

It is all smoke and mirrors! :D I still have to apply quite a force to make the Vendetta go 28mph on a flat course. This is one of the few times in my life that being a little guy (5'7" with my shoes on) is an advantage. It helps me be really aero and tucked into the bike frame. You also have...

    Curved Slider

Great to hear you had good success with going to a shorter chainstay. Although I am curious why you went straight from the largest 23.5" to the smallest 19.5" and did not try the medium 21.5". I love mine curved slider - and I am sure you will to. It does bring the handlebars down nicely.

    Mavic UST

I had a horrible time trying to mount ProOnes to a set of Chinese rims. My LBS finally mounted one, but they told me to never come back. I rode it all year, but when it lost pressure in the winter it just fell off the edges and could never re-mount. Now, I have had excellent results with the...
