What I did to prepare for Sebring 2017 ---today

Finished the 3-hour Maclure this morning. (The rest of you will ride it this weekend). I still think Ratz is trying to bury me before I go off to my daughter's graduation. I resist burial strongly! :p:p:p:p:p I went to bed late last night, figuring I might just ride an hour this morning. Woke up...

Depending on what Garmin you have will depend on what you get. The 1000 I think gives turn by turn. I think the 510 is not as good. But, truthfully David, the course is marked very well, and there are usually cars and or people at virtually every turn. Plus there are so many people on the...

What I did to prepare for Sebring 2017 ---today

I am riding a modified week, since I will be out Friday thru Sunday. Bob suggested I ride Eclipse today - instead of Rendezvous - but now I think he just wanted "bury" me after my 105min FTP ramp workout of yesterday. :D Thanks Bob! (but thankfully I was rested and felt better than I did...

What I did to prepare for Sebring 2017 ---today

Remember it's just a number, and used mostly to be able ride structured workouts that will both challenge you and not kill you, so you eventually adapt and get strong. The pounds/kg ratio is really more meaningful if you are trying to compare one person's overall strength to someone elses. The...

What I did to prepare for Sebring 2017 ---today

I remember those days - Back in 2015 - I tore my front and rear rotator cuff in my crash at Sebring 24 - I had the surgery in March. It was great to be able to just lay back on the Vendetta and pedal - while my shoulder healed. I did not loose hardly any fitness due to that. It was a little...

I can definitely see some benefit in riding Zwift especially if you are motivated to ride hard. I know the first year I started riding my Cruzbike (Silvio - Started in June 2016) - I was commuting to work. It is really only 10 miles each way, but I found myself going longer and longer, until I...

What I did to prepare for Sebring 2017 ---today

Hardy: Zwift does have their own training workouts - and I did see 2 different FTP tests. Pretty comparable to all other - it's not rocket science by any means! I have not tried the workouts, but did read DC rainmaker's assessment of the feature on Zwift. Looks like it works in tandem while...

Ratz: Maybe the IOS is more stable for the new TR app then the Windows version. I have had nothing but problems with the newest TR version on my i7 laptop. Plenty of RAM and speed. Stupid TR program constantly just "is not responding", workout just pause, or dropping my HR or wattage randomly...

Funny coming from you Jason - but I guess you probably meant it to be! :p:p:p:p

What I did to prepare for Sebring 2017 ---today

I finally rode a "true" 1-hour FTP - well, at least the Larry version of it, which I explained somewhere that I start out about 20 watts under my FTP and them ramp up and past it in an hour, and leave room to keep going. I did that this morning (instead of the TR 8-minute test, where you ride...

What I did to prepare for Sebring 2017 ---today

Yes - They do not let you drive your vehicle to the pit area, so you have to carry all your stuff. It was particulaly hard for my crew (Gary), who was recovering from bunion surgery. It just about did him in! I would highly recommend a cart, wagon, or dolly of some sort. I probably do have...

Ken, You can pretty much come and go from the night pits at will. There is a small overpass that you can drive on. I think the only time that it may be "closed" or "controlled", would be the time when all the 12 and 24 hour riders are transitioning from the 11 mile day loop onto the track, as...

    Want to become a "Cruz"er

John, Here is a link to an extremely nice Silvio 1.5. I know the woman who is selling it personally - She had to move to Canada for personal reasons and left the bike in Georgia. I told her I would help her sell it. She is the only owner, and it has very few miles on it. Here is the link to it...

Instructions to tie Strava to Zwift: How to connect your accounts Log in or create an account on Zwift. Click the arrow next to the Dashboard button at the top right. Go to Settings > Connections > Connect to Strava. Follow the prompts in the pop up to authorize Strava. Maybe I'm just stupid...

Yes - but visually it would be soooooo cool to see one! :D I've created an account and will play with it some - but based on you 100K ride from yesterday you would kill me tight now. I took nearly 6 weeks off in Oct & Nov (need to do that I here when you are old and gray like me!) and Bob says...

Jason, I'll see what I can do. I was part of the Beta testing for Zwift and one thing that I remember was that they did not have a recumbent bike for me to "build" in the Zwift world. Maybe that has changed, but I sincerely doubt it! So, I was never able to build a bike that could even come...

Yes, I'm a "old" guy at 57, but still working to full time. Probably will be for the next 20 years - unless I can find a sponsor! haha .. On mid-sole cleat position: I have been meaning to experiment with this. A good friend of mine - and an extremely powerful (and well known in the US)...

What: who dreads an FTP test? I thought everyone looks forward to them as much as I do! :) Well - if you do just "love" to test your FTP (like me), and you "really" want to know what your "true" 1 hour max power is, write or run a program like this...
