Texas time Trials or Bust - Whose gonna join me

Nice riding with you @ratz . For the others watching this thread, it works as advertised.

Texas time Trials or Bust - Whose gonna join me

I'm interested in group training. Don't have Trainer Road, but could get it. 1700 miles is a long way to go for a race, especially if driving is necessary because air travel is risky. But I'm planning to go back to the 6-12-24 WTTC in Borrego Springs. Some chance that race might not happen, too...

    Bag solutions for Vendetta V20?

I’ve been using the Bacchetta Brain Box with a Thor seat for a couple years. Wheel clearance is very close with a 700c wheel, but works as long as you don’t overload the bag. I use a large safety pin at the top of the bag/seat to tighten it up and lift the bag a little. With a 650b rear wheel...

If you comeback do it with flare

I hope that was 50lb of craft beer and cheesecake. ;-) Is there an option for those of us who don’t have Trainer Road?

    How about a Tandem!?!

The longer fork from the Sofrider would raise the front end of the Bike Friday. I don't think the Bike Friday can take a larger rear wheel. So do you think it would be a problem to have the front end raised?

    How about a Tandem!?!

Looking into this some more, I think it would be much simpler to use the Sofrider to convert a standard tandem. I found this by @Charles.Plager on another forum: https://www.bikeforums.net/folding-bikes/1096847-2wd-folding-recumbent-tandem.html It appears to be a Fito FZ2 7-Speed Folding...

    How about a Tandem!?!

I'm thinking about converting our Sofrider into a tandem, and found this old thread. What does the Tribe think about replacing the aft end of the Sofrider with the aft end of a Rans Stratus (from the bottom bracket of the Stratus back)?

Great idea! Might be the next phase of sit-stand and work-while-walking. Can you post a photo of how you have your workstation set up?

    650c rear wheel for Vendetta?

FWIW, I used a 650b rear wheel for the 6-hour race at Borrego Springs. Front end felt a little "heavier", but handling was fine for a relatively flat time trial with just four turns per lap. For a technical mountain descent, a 700c wheel would still be best.

Does weight training offer any tangible benefit?

I think strength training aimed at core strength helps in all cases. For endurance rides/races it will help with control when fatigued.

Some interesting data to compare for you data nuts who use strava

Yes, when I did the race recon in Sep, that section from the stop sign headed south thru the S-curve down to the right-hand turn onto Borrego Springs Road was really bad. Rattle your fillings loose bad. Reminded me of Japanese massage chairs that shake you. They covered it with new chip seal...

Some interesting data to compare for you data nuts who use strava

I compared 6 segments, 3 flat and 3 not. Here is the ratio of Mark's power to yours for each: Mark/Jason Segment flat? 0.91747573 Wisconsin to Carlsbad Village Y 1.03755869 Carlsbad racetrack Y 1.02116402 Smelly...

Looks like you rode about 1/4 of the Borrego Springs big loop. Pavement noticeably better than when you did the 24hr there?

    6-12-24 WTTC Borrego Springs 2019

You're close enough that you could take a ride out there and check it out before the next registration comes around. Stop sign control was good. I slowed a bit the first lap because of the warning about possibly needing to stop, but was waved through. Every other lap I yelled "Clear?" early...

    6-12-24 WTTC Borrego Springs 2019

Tubeless. The Continental 5000 TL tires are the real deal. I've tried a bunch of others including the first-gen Schwalbe Pro One, but they all get punctures that the sealant can't seal. So bad that I went back to tubes for a while. But I've put many miles on my 5000 TLs and I've yet to...
