Tom, I locked mine down with a small hose clamp. Just pull the boot up and clamp the shaft.

Spot on assessment. As I rid every model and every version as often as I can on different days and different terrain you are dead on point.

I am awaiting parts for the fix/upgrade to this. The key has been finding something that has the same slim profile.

We are riding those pedals now and having some great experience so far. I am planning on riding them for Cycle Oregon this year and ditching the cleats entirely that week for a full blown test.

There is no 30mm spindle crank that works with the current chainstay that I am aware of. Don't worry peeps the ability to use any crank you could ever wish is something that we are going to fix. Best news is that the goal for that will cover most (not all) of the performance models over the past...
