    Ventisit opinions

I use the ventisit on my S-40. stock pad is fine, but it holds moisture--the ventisit does not. I find both seat pad options comfortable--it really was about not wanting to sit in a puddle of my own sweat for hours.

    Converting S40 to electronic shifters

I went with Wheeltop-$600(currently), very flexible, and so far no issues. I did go with the cable brake version so I did not change out the brakes on my S40.

    S40 1 year, 7,000 miles

The descent in the Tour de Palm Springs was straight, smooth, and 1/2 the road was closed so no cars really. I hit 41.6mph on a decent into Boerne Texas--rather straight, but the road surface was not smooth, and I did use some light braking to keep the speed down. Also on that ride was a...

    Carry rack for a CB

I modified my 1-up rack a touch--works well. Just move the spacer down on one side and trim the arms.

Getting up to my first 100K on an S40

For me, the issue with going larger on the cassette is compatibility with the deraillure cage and increased steps between gears. If 15-20% grade are your norm, you would be better served with a 2x setup.

Getting up to my first 100K on an S40

Going one size smaller on the front chainring will take the edge off the climbs, but will also reduce your top peddling speed. I use a 40 tooth ring and my max peddling speed for me is 28mph--plenty fast. At 12% I find I need to sit up a bit to help with weight over the front wheel.

Improving climbing on S40 Gen 6 with 1x11 drivetrain

Another option is to change out the front chainring to something a little smaller. I run a 40 tooth ring.

    Bike Travel Case Recommendations

I did a full test pack and weighing today. I found when I placed the wheels in there was contact between the wheel bag and seat, and I felt it better to remove the seat than risk a cracked rim. My trusty bike scale only goes u to 55 pounds--I estimate the complete packed bike to be around 60...

    Bike Travel Case Recommendations

Buxumbox arrived so I did a test fit. Well built. It does require a bit of disassembly--pop off the bottom bracket clamps, remove from the headset--About 7 minutes to pack and 7 minutes to unpack and re-assemble. I will secure the boom and cranks when I actually fly. First trip is mid May. I...

Well--the Texas events are March--I emailed inquiring if Recumbents are allowed as they only link to the 2027 rules-waiting to hear back.

The S40 works with most roof-rack bike carriers!

I used to use a roof mount--then one day I forgot the bike was up there and drove into the garage--it did not go well--yes, stupid and avoidable--but I stick to hitch racks now. I did modify my 1up rack a little bit to improve fit. Intown I do not worry about the seat, but if I plan on highway...

    Bike Travel Case Recommendations

Well, I pulled the trigger and ordered up a Buxumbox--I ended up sending a picture with measurements to the company, and they recommended the Stelvio MTB box, with some modifications--looks like I should be able to mount the bike in the box without dissasembly other than shortening the boom and...

Insta360 Camera in "Following Mode" with Invisible Selfie Stick

I use the Insta360 GPS remote so I can embed the data from the desktop editor. You can also sync it up with your Garmin or other cycle computer data, but I have not tried that myself.
