Cruzbike 2019 Summer TT Challenge - week #10 results
What a great challenge so far!
This past week we had 25 people ride their TT route.
Only 5 people PB'd however.
Andrew Thompson takes this week's honors with a 91 second gain in his PB - Amazing.
I will pause a sec to brag on my friend (Andrew) who casually rides a Cruzbike soft-rider. He has been riding this challenge up until this past week only with his cell phone in his pocket to record his time and route on the Strava app. We ride the same route as we only live about 10 miles apart. This past week we rode the route on Sat morning like we usually do. When we finished Andrew went to stop and save his ride on his phone only to see that it had malfunctioned and did not record anything. Prior to this week I had a 14:35 advantage on him riding my Magic, so I left 14:35 after he started. He was long past the finish line when I came across and I was only 3 seconds behind my PB, so I know he set a PB just no proof. I talked him into using my spare Garmin (with time and avg speed displayed) and to go out the next morning and try again which he did. I told him to keep his eye on the avg speed and keep pushing at the end to keep it up. Well, even after running hard (and probably breaking his PR only a day) before Andrew went out and crushed his PR by 91 secs! way to go Andrew!!! The best of the week by a long shot!
Other interesting factoids:
Dave Zinke continues to hold down first place in the points race. Andrew Thompson is just 8.5 points away.
Only 7.5 point separate 3rd thru 6th places (Larry, Dean, Rob, & Chris H)
Only 10% (4 out of a total of 40) participants have ridden all 10 weeks = 10%
Only 10% (4 more) have ridden 9 of the 10 weeks.
10% (4) more have ridden 8 of the 10 weeks
Those 12 people occupy the top 13 places in the points race - it has a lot to do about doing it every week.
Winners of each week including how many seconds they beat their existing PR by:
Week #1 (18 riders) - no winner - everyone PR'd
Week #2 (32 riders) - Neal Brooks (574)
Week #3 (16 riders) - Robert Onishi (177)
Week #4 (30 riders) - Jimmie Clark (160)
Week #5 (25 riders) - Robert Onishi (103)
Week #6 (27 riders) - Mary Elks (206)
Week #7 (20 riders) - Chris Stancliff (159)
Week #8 (21 riders) - Neal Brooks (256)
Week #9 (20 riders) - Rob Lloyd (232)
Week #10 (25 riders) - Andrew Thompson (91)
In 9 weeks we have had 7 different people (and 2 repeats, Neal, Robert) set the highest PR of the week - Congrats to all of you!
We are 2/3 of the way done - I encourage everyone to continue to try there hardest. 5 more weeks left
You might not be able to win the points race, but still strive to go as hard as you can and win 1 of the weeks.
There may also be random awards/recognition at the end for most improved, most consistent, closest average time, smallest gain, largest gain, etc.
Thanks again for being a part of this challenge
