I've done it accidentally on a 20/26 SWB and on my Q45, but I usually just want to get the back wheel back on the ground. Never thought about trying to sustain it.
And how can one fake it? CGI? Magic?
He used brakes to slow down his 'fall' - the frame has to rotate in relation to the wheel, so braking hard can slow it down or stop entirely. You can even maintain it indefinetely, provided you don't fall to the side .
I've done that for a couple feet, by accident/necessity a few times. Soft landing is normal. Note that the landing is not really super-soft in the video either. He is bouncing a bit.
