Andrews V20C Build 2025 discussion (1st time building bike)

Hydraulic install kit came in, bike frame has been on order and wheels are being shipped. And after reading manuals I purchased friction paste as well and an 8 mm crows foot. All I have to do is decide and order handlebars.

Has anyone measured the bar width on the handlebars that come with the V20C? My old V20 seems to be at 500mm with outward angle. Doesn't look like you can gat any wider than 498mm?

So the above pics show the 498 wide handlebars are skinnier than the stock V20 handlebars from 2020. I couldn’t find wider aero bars.

Been watching the video of how were supposed to build the V20C but i am not seeing the use of "friction paste"? Do we not need it when mating carbon parts anymore?

Carbon paste primarily does two things: it provides that little bit of grit to help prevent slippage for parts like carbon seatposts and handlebars. And it acts as a barrier to keep certain parts from fusing to other parts--especially true of seatposts, which, under the right conditions (repeated exposure to water seeping past the seat collar) over a long enough time, can fuse to the inside of a frame's seat tube. There isn't much about the V20c's design that invites carbon fusing, nor are there really any spots where slippage might be a concern. Put a light coating of regular grease on the bb shell threads, pedal spindle threads, and where the headset bearings contact bearing cups and races. Otherwise, keep the clamping areas dry and follow the torque specs with an accurate torque wrench. With the bb shell clamp, make sure that the four bolt gaps between the two halves of the clamp are even. Be careful not to over torque the two pinch bolts underneath the boom. And make sure to apply full torque to the slider clamp above the headset so that it doesn't slide when you put down big power. The only spot where I applied carbon paste was inside the handlebar clamp on the slider, and I probably did that more out of habit than anything else.

Happy building!

I collected my new S40 Gen 6 frameset this week and flew it home with me to Australia (Canberra). All laid out and ready to build this weekend and into the LBS next week for the technical parts (I’m a biologist, not a mechanic). I went simple - SRAM Rival groupset and Vision SC40 wheels.

I’m hoping to finish my S40 SRAM rival bike next week, wheels, sram hub body, cassette left to go. Very similar to this ⬆️

What size BB tool do we need for the Croder bottom bracket? I have FSA, BBr60, BB900, Hollow tech 2, and a BBT9 tool and none fit the corder threaded BB?

Finally able to start building bike this morning and ran into an issue straight away. I ordered the curved slider and it will not slide into the boom with the clamp in the boom WITHOUT THE SCREWS EVEN IN. I tested the stock straight boom on the slider and it goes on without an issue. Am i missing a different clamp that was supposed to be with the new curved slider?

I found a nub inside the boom and filed it down, I also filed the hole in the clamp a bit cause it hade a lip on it. The straight boom slide on fine with the clamp inside but still can’t get the curved slide to fit.

Here is a video of the straight slider fitting properly and the new curved slider being a pickle. What am i missing? Is there supposed to be a different clamp inside the curved slider? I cant even get passed the first step, am i doomed? I shouldn't have to file the clamp down should i?
