The current version of the Quest is less fiddly and actually pretty quick compared to John's v1 videos, which is what I assume you were watching.
When I took the Quest down to Sebring I took off the rear wheel, undid the QR on the shock, undid the two thumb screws for the seatback and seattube QR and pulled the tube out with the seat back still attached. I folded the frame but left front wheel, bottom seat pan, and handlebars in place and set everything in the back 1/2 of my Chevy Equinox. This is with the larger seatback folded down to accommodate leaving the handlebars and stem still assembled.
Not anywhere near as compact as it could go but this process only takes about 10 minutes (after practicing a bit). Probably more like 20 minutes to disassemble further to squish it up more.
