Car rack solution

Hi every one, I am looking into the perfect way to bring my v20 with me. I have a temporary bike rack that I can put on my trunk but I chipped the paint of my vendetta last year while there was a second bike. It is also hard to stabilized the front wheel. Do you have any recommandation for a set up that could work well. For the moment I don't have any roof bar nor a trailer hitch, so I will need to add one depending of the solution.I also don't know it I should go with a rack that fit the wheel or the frame or the one that you take the wheel of to mount directly.

I used a strap-on rack for awhile. A little heavy, but worked well. The support bar grabbed the slider, keeping the front wheel stable.

When I traded in my Chevy Blazer (recumbent fit in the back with seats folded forward) for a small car (Nissan Juke), I took it to U-haul and had them install a 1 1/4 inch hitch. There may be other options for larger size hitch. Check with dealer, U-haul, etc. I already had a Swagman bike rack to fit the 1 1/4 hitch, so my choice was easy. But there are lots of choices for hitch bike racks.

I have had several Cruzbikes and have used many different carrying solutions - take it apart, put it in the back, Thule fork mounts with adapters (had to loosen the brake assembly each time) and a couple of rear hitch mounts. I finally found the dream solution from Alta Racks! I went back and forth with their team sending measurements of my V20 and then finally ordered it. We needed extra long bolts to get the kick out for the rear tire to fit correctly and I ordered some foam to support the front wheel in the basket but this thing is solid and the bike gets in and out very easily. Removing the safety bolt you can lower the rack and remove the bike with minimal effort.

Their larger racks could be equipped to handle several Cruzbikes. I would expect some tweaking to support variations on the Cruzbike frames, but the V20 is probably the most challenging because of the slim gap between the frame and front wheel.

It appears that the tariffs have already impacted the pricing since I bought it a few weeks ago, but this thing is very well designed and a very high quality build. The company has lots of online resources and their team was very helpful.

Is there a reason a normal hitch mount rack, like a Thule, wouldn’t work for a V20? I use a Thule T2 Pro XT for my Q45 and it is probably easier to load than lifting the front wheel into the receiver.

I have used several hitch mount racks. A Thule fits a V20 and a Reese fits a V20 along with the other models. The Thule requires you to lean the bike and then place the arm on the frame. I use the Thule when I travel because it has a built in arm lock and cable lock. Easier to put on your hitch if you have two people. I usually travel with a S30 and either a V20 or S40.

You used to be able to buy the Reese one at Walmart. It is easy to store and put on by yourself. Several folks have used this sort of rack. The bike hangs from the tires. Here is a similar one from etrailer.

I use a 1UP Quick rack for my S40. It works pretty well. Front tire connection point can be adjusted one on one side to have a tight fit with the tire as it cannot be fully pushed over the tire with the longer setting due to contact with the crankset. After securing the wheels I add a ratchet belt over the seat and secure the bike further. Pretty easy to load and unload as well.

I did the FL500 this year, and the organizer gave a few of us a ride back to MIA from KEYW with a standard 3-bike, 2" hitch rear rack. I was able to get the V20c on the rack with two other DF bikes by just reversing the steerer.
