Early Arrival

On Nov. 7 the new V20 frame set unexpectedly arrived much to my surprise. Better than Nov. 30 or later.

The delivery came in two packages, the frame itself and the handlebar. All in good condition.

I will build up the V20 using most of the components from my Silvio 1.0. A delivery of a Deda Crononero Low Rider TT Base Bar 46cm is expected in about 2 weeks so. More updates then.

Photos in the next post.

Very Nice!

Nice Bruce.

The Boom looks a lot more stout than it does in the online store images. Defiantly a larger dia that the Silvio 2.x series for certain.

Boom

Rick, David,
The depth of the micrometer jaws may be just a tiny bit short but here are the numbers.
Boom 41mm OD
Slider 44.5mm OD

Dan,
The V20 has a straight slider that fits over the boom. The V2.0 has the slider inside the boom. With some V2.0 builds the slider got stuck in the boom.

Nice to know - Now it just needs to be red, and say Cruzbike on it somewhere!

There is a Cruzbike badge. It will be placed on the head tube or maybe the slider.

Hm not quite the same thing, seems like a bit of an oops (on an otherwise beautiful bike).

Seat

Eric,
The carbon fiber seat is a work of art with that beautiful CF finish. It fits the frame well and the fastening holes accurately match the "horns" on the frame. It is very light in weight. Very impressive.

I think I'm going to try the seat secured with Velcro as originally designed. This may allow easy access to storage in the frame.

I haven't been able to get a decent picture of the seat so far. Maybe it will be cloudy in the morning with better light.

Hinged seat

Maybe instead of bolting the seat directly to the horns you could manage some kind of hinge between the seat and the frame. This would leave the base secured and enable you to lift the seat forward and then back down with the hinge maintaining the alignment of the seat with the frame velcro.

Steve (yakmurph) suggested a similar idea to me with the now old 2-piece CF-faced seat but using a bunch of holes along the edges of the currently bolted together seam and using a small rope (sheet) to craft a pretty cool hinge mechanism. I haven't tried that yet but I might one of these days.

Here is a link Steve included showing how this was done to create a rudder hinge. Note: Link opens in a new window:

Hinge

That does look nice. One might think about building up the forward edge of the CF seat to provide strength to that forward edge.
Thanks.

OT: The Dedra handlebar arrived today. No wandering of knees will be allowed!

Could a 2" wide strip of

Could a 2" wide strip of fluffy velcro be folded 180 degrees and attached to 1" wide hook velcro on the horn and the seat, be the hinge at the seat base.

From some of the photos of the Silvio builds, I saw two plastic clamps bolted to the seat top and going over the headrest tubes that locked the seat top.
Was this a Cruzbike addition or a riders addition?

When carrying my Silvio V1.0 up stairs, I lift the bike from the seat bottom (Welded to the frame) at the balance point. Can this be done with a velcroed only seat?

More Photos?

Hi Bruce. Thanks for sharing, but I'd love to see the seat in greater detail. Is it truly carbon fiber? Is it finished on both sides?

That's beautiful. Nice to see some hard numbers on the boom diameter and know that it fits in between S2 and V2.

Seat Detail

Andrew,
Included are two pics of the seat. It really is that reflective. The back has the same finish.

Sorry about the orientation.

Next Question

Now if we could find out if they made the production run enough that legacy owners can purchase them; example my S2 seat is looking a little rough after the learning crash in spring; and the shoulder of doom crash that ended the season. :) Maybe Robert can give use the Official word on that one.
