OMG! I just saw this!I am a new member living in Tavares FL. near 448 and 561. Just starting to get use to my S40. Are you still in Mt Dora?
Not in FL, but if you are near Hilton Head, stop by the Cruzbike Museum and you can ride any model you like and get some expert advice from @LarryOzHey Florida Cru!
I will be in Orlando 7/5-17/2024. I am doing a test ride with Tim of Bent Revolution on 7-9-2024 on a S40 and T50 and am wondering if someone would let me use an S40 for part of my time in Orlando. Maybe even try out a Vendetta? Tim said he doesn’t stock the Vendetta. I am considering joining the dark side after a C4-C5 compression fracture and dislocated collar bone that are unrepaired. Just struggle to get comfy on my DF bikes these days. Not stoked to be looking at no miles for nearly 2wks.
Thanks!
I would love to do that, but we’ll be nowhere near Hilton Head and I live in central Idaho. Not in FL, but if you are near Hilton Head, stop by the Cruzbike Museum and you can ride any model you like and get some expert advice from @LarryOz
Colin. If you are traveling in the Mt Dora area I would be glad to share my on going learning experiences with my S40. I purchased the S40 in April and have just over 300 miles logged on it. I am riding trails more than on the road as an added safety measure. My email is charlie@hbmartin.com. Sent you an email. Have been really hopeful one of the FL Cru with a Vendetta would reply so I could at least try the position out. We’ll seeColin. Hi - I'm in Mandarin. Do you still have your S40?New CB owner here, just saw this thread. S40 owner living in North Florida, south of Jax, north of St. Augustine.
Hey there,Hi - I'm in Mandarin. Do you still have your S40?
Meant to say this in my original response but if you want get together to ride, let me know. I live on the south end of Green Cove Springs so I hit the Palatka-Keystone Heights-Lake Butler Trail (near the Palatka end) quite a bit. Also ride road routes as well.Hi - I'm in Mandarin. Since my last response, I have picked up another S40 so the answer is yes, I do have an S40.Hi - I'm in Mandarin. Do you still have your S40?
Wow, did you find a used one or get another new one? What made you decide to get another?Since my last response, I have picked up another S40 so the answer is yes, I do have an S40.
Hi y'all...I live in Gainesville FL and have a Silvetta (vendetta front end with a Silvio 2.1 backend) and am about to get a V20C as a Xmas present to myself! Would love to ride with other CBers...
We’ll say it was “like new” because it was purchased by the original owner for his trainer so it had never been outside. I decided to grab it because it is more social of a bike compared to the V20 and I realized how much I enjoyed it. One of those “don’t know whatcha got until it’s gone” scenarios.Wow, did you find a used one or get another new one? What made you decide to get another?
Are you faster on the S40 than you were on a standard roadbike? I read somewhere about cruzbutt on an S40. Have you experienced discomfort of any sort? One of the reasons I'm interested in these bikes is for comfort and safety (being lower to the ground in case of crash). Hi Amy, I'm thinking of switching for the same reason. Jack at Champion Cycling in Mandarin told me they would be glad to assemble and support anything I needed with the cruzbike. They have 3 locations as I'm sure you know. Did you get a cruzbike? I'm still saving unless I find a good used one.Hello! I live in Atlantic Beach and am thinking of switching from a Trek Domani and a Trek Emonda to a CruzBike S40 due to an injury. I ride on A1A to St. Augustine a lot, but have not noticed any Cruz bikes while I've been out. Basically, I'm wondering if there is an advantage to buying from the dealer in Odessa, FL vs ordering one online. I'm worried that the set up might be a bit too much for me. Is there a local shop where you take your bike to be serviced?
I don’t have any comparison data versus a standard upright road bike because I did not start cycling until after my accident in 2016 that left me as an amputee. I rehabbed on a recumbent trike, loved it so much I kept cycling and eventually transitioned to 2-wheel recumbents. So, my only comparison would be compared to the recumbents I have ridden. As far as speed, the V20 is the fastest I've been on and the S40 I can compare to my RWD recumbent (Schlitter Freestyle), which I currently have on craigslist. The S40 is kind of a Swiss army knife as you will find folks on the forum that have set them up as very capable road bikes and others have set them up as a touring bike. As for comfort, any recumbent will be more comfortable than an upright or a legacy bike. Some on the forum have had zero issues with recumbutt on the S40 and others have had to modify their seats a bit. I put over 500 miles on my S40 with the stock seat before I decided I wanted to change it up to be able to go on longer rides. For me, the Thor seat fixed the minor recumbutt issue I had with the stock seat. Are you faster on the S40 than you were on a standard roadbike? I read somewhere about cruzbutt on an S40.
