Aw man, what is this; they no longer can "ship by plane" goods with Batteries in the USA. Where's the logic in that? It's not like the passenger compartment is full to the brim with 4 lithium ion batteries per passenger. My goodness we are a silly country sometimes.
Looks like we'll be lucky to have parts by Monday.
The batteries are Lithium Ion POLYMER, which are the ones that have already caused fires on planes, as are used ON the plane for battery back up, as they have a
very high 200 whr/kg, 200 recharges (20,000 km of riding) $40 replacement, compared to Lithium Ferric Phosphate of 115 Whr/kg (E Bike batteries) 2,000 recharges.
Sram would have a good strong case around the Li-PO battery, so the chance of damaging the battery, and starting a fire is minimal.
I think that Sram would have tested the charger VERY well!
The biggest danger is during charging, if the charger does not shut down correctly when the battery is fully charged.
If they reach 150 C, there is a thermal run away, and fire.
Use a GOOD quality LiPo battery bag when charging. NOT like this one!
This is a good LiPo bag
