Yes, we all made it back safely, thank you Beano.
But I was super sad because we were forced to turn around halfway. I didn’t meet storm “Floris” personally, only its fringes — apparently, it even managed to overturn some trucks.
I didn’t have the Vendetta with me, but I did wear my Cruzbike jersey, and I was surprised at how many people commented on it.
I won’t write much about the event itself here, but if anyone’s interested, you can read my summary on Strava:
Because of the cancellation, I also had plenty of time for photos and videos and it took me a long time to reduce them to just over 100:

From the elevation profile, the part I was allowed to ride would have been ideal for the Vendetta and easily doable, as it was mostly very flat. On some long straight stretches, I surely would have had a lot of fun chasing DFs, since I passed most of them even on the VTX.
However, the horrible road surface over large sections of the route would have spoiled the fun. For that, I would have needed 35 mm or wider tires with 40 psi tubeless — which doesn’t work with my V20.
If everything goes well, though, it’ll be there in Paris in 2027.
And I met Damien in person which was a great pleasure.
