The Perfect Recumbent-DF Draft?

The challenge with this simple type of tandem are two-fold (as per Sheldon Brown): stiffness - twisting because they are only held together by the rear/front axle! (scary) AND they have to be able to pivot on that same axle for road grade transitions (speed bump would first lift the middle wheel, then one end then the middle wheel again and the reverse going over a pothole or dip. But the huge advantage is (bird language) cheap, cheap, cheap and easily available parts.

PS what are those blue tires, they look sharp!

The blue tires are from Kenda. I don't think they are made anymore.

I would be cool to hear Zack Caplin's opinion of me riding with a drafting him 10 years ago long before I ever tried a bent. Back then I had no opinion of his bike, only that he was fun to draft because he was fast on the flats and DH's. I don't think we exchanged many words back then so I wonder if I appeared as the snobby roadie riding my $8000 europian superbike or if he just thought of me as a chill rider who enjoyed riding with him.
