Tubeless Tire Blow-out

I've seen this work well for fast riders. There is always someone behind them that is willing to give them a tube. I've seen the same fast guy go through three tubes: his tube and then two more from me and another slow rider.
That $20 bill comes in handy at the end to pay for his "karma" with beers:)

Lol yes it does work for fast riders and this middlin rider me has supplied many a tube to a fellow audaxian. But after a while say it does become irksome acting as a proxy repair van when audax is all about self sufficiency ingenuity as well as cycling.

The last time it happened I was in the position with 50 mm rims of no spare tube of my own and the likelihood of nil available. I’ve since switched to valve extenders but I asked the rider with 250 klm to go to ride with me in case I needed my last tube back.
He snuck off at the next checkpoint. And never replaced the tube. I marked his card but he never returned to audax. I made it through with no flats but still a little deflated over these confounded ill equipped riders.

So it might work for the weight weenie fast no nonsense set but it is a risk the karma beers may not protect against lol.

For myself I have to help always having been offered help by the majority.

When riders see sealant a sprayin it’s like tomcat hell as all the mates offer hands free encouragement........

Looking forward to your review of the GP5000.
Since I'm leaving on business for a week I'll share the lead....

I own a ton of stuff blast pumps, compressor, slim etc. to "seat tubeless tires on the rim" . I setup 8 wheels this spring. 7 of the GP5000 popped on to the bead with just a simple hand pump, then stay on the bead deflated and you can get them off to with a simple pedro tire iron. Been riding them at 65 psi; ridiculously effective. I'll be selling a bunch of unused PRO Ones cheap when I get back.

Have you noticed any change in ride comfort switching from 32 to 28? I would likely stay with 28mm. It seems to be a good compromise between comfort and performance.

This value of the following + $4.50 will get you a Starbucks.

Since moving to Silca Rim Tape and the GP5000 I finally have a Tubeless setup that delivers what I had hoped for over 4 years ago. I suspect it will be better yet in the future. The likelihood that one of my bikes has tubeless versus tube is directly related to the top speed it can go.
So you T50s have tubes!!??

Yes because my research said that at this time the Marathon Mondial was the best tire for what I wanted from the t50 which was a Gravel/Crushed limestone trailbike. Early results are that I hit the mark but need better tubes; I'm have having to pump up the Marathon's more often than the GP5000 tubeless

Thanks to Hardy's recommendation, I just received the Dynaplug repair kit. I think my survival kit that I store in the tailbox is now complete. Dense foam keep everything in place. Nothing worse than sounding like a rattling tin can!

These posts are pretty much a hint this thread has jumped the Rhineodon. But since it is unlikely you mates will ever seek a truce I think you should settle this thing (actually I'm not even sure what this thing is) with a race off in the Hound and Hare.
Why was Jond's last reply pulled???? I was not offended by it!!!!

Slim I think perhaps others are offended so I deleted my banter Aussie style.

Kulcha lol.
When I did a Cycle Canada ride from Vancouver to Calgary, there was me and three New Zealanders, and we were going for it, and the Yanks and Canadians were looking very surprised and some offended at what we were saying to each other in fun!!!!!

Well, I had another blow-out last week that occurred during the TT Challenge at the same location. This time the outcome was different in that I was carrying a Dynaplug kit. It took two plugs and to two CO2 canisters to patch the gash in tire in order to complete the ride. I have included some pics of the patch. After returning home, I attempted to permanently patch the tire, but the patch failed 2.5 miles out on ride. Fortunately, the sealant kicked in at about 40 psi to allow for a careful ride home.

I recently purchased a Conti Grand Prix 5000 TL as a spare. What an amazing tire! More on that in a separate link. I have also included some pics of the inside of my race case. I used multiple layers of Kaizen Foam to pack everything needed for field repairs and a secure method to carry my phone and wallet.

Is the sidewall hitting a rock, or metal from a truck that has been pushed off the car/truck tyre area of a road, into the cycling area!

The location is a major intersection. The shoulder is occasionally littered with either lost cargo or the occasional remnants of a vehicle collision. It makes for an interesting ride when multiple semi-trucks whiz by at +60 mph.
