Before I got the workstand, if I removed the Grasshopper's back wheel it used to take nearly an hour to get it on again. Fatal combination of problems. Rohloff, disk brakes and the Grasshopper will not stand upside down. That is why I got the stand. So I decided not to get a flat in the street any more, and I am not going to trust a kevlar layer. If I see broken glass I aim for it. Always cheers me up. I have replaced the Silvio's front innertube in the street. I have no trouble getting the wheel back on. So I am keeping the balloons on the Silvio. Thin ones.

How about a titanium one?

When it come to metal, there is no magic involved.
Titanium 1/2 weight and 1/2 stiffness of steel. (Also, even less damping).
Aluminium is 1/3 weight and 1/3 stiffness.

If you make steel tubing with 0.3mm thin walls and large diameter, it will undergo a buckling failure. Can be fixed by using internal pressure, just like I said (in theory).

Same principle as bike wheels - properly *preloaded* structures can be much stronger.

Did you notice any diminished performance in comfort going to tannus. What tyres did you use previously on grasshopper. Great bike I lust after one by the way. But the hurricane is pretty similar.

Shake, rattle and roll. I can feel the bumps. Even though it has springs. Broke a spoke. First one ever. Was that because of the increased impact? Steering has gone a bit weird, and I do not trust the grip. Do not use Tannus unless you are really really definitely scared of the puncture fairy.

I used Conti Contact and Kojak and Panaracer. Contact seemed the fastest and also stopped quickest and were the toughest. They seem to be made of very hard rubber. Almost impossible to get on and off the tyre. Finger-breaker. They are so stiff that once I rode for ages on a flat and did not realize.

I use conti contact on front wheels of the catrike 700. Like em.

The schwalbe marathon has less rolling resistance than the schwalbe marathon racer.

I use marathon on hurricane. Will use again. Great tyre.

Yes thanks for the tannus tip i won’t go there.
