Vendetta vs Silvio

Dude
Maybe

Maybe it comes down to aerodynamics and frontal area, a longer torso needs to be more reclined to have the same frontal area as a smaller torso. That's all I can think of. I guess you're back to the drawing board -- good luck! You'll probably like either bike (assuming you can acclimate to MBB) and I agree that once you're spending $3500+, $700 doesn't seem like a big difference. For me it was an easy choice, I don't ride with fast riders and I don't care about absolute speed.

Just wanted to give a short

Just wanted to give a short update. I have been tossing it back and forth about the Silvio vs Vendetta. I really think I had set my mind on a Silvio. Today I rode with a guy on a Bacchetta Corsa and I was on my Catrike 700. Every hill he just pretty much walked away from me. Seeing as how John recommended the Vendetta for someone with a long torso I took his advice and ordered a complete bike. I guess I won't be able to blame the bike for me getting dropped any more. :)

update??

Would you care to give an update on your experience with the Vendetta? I am new to the board so if you've already posted elsewhere here please forgive me.
I owned a Musashi also at one time so would be interested in how they compare. Currently I ride a Meta bike pimped out for speed, BUT, everything being equal I still get dropped by the DF's in an uphill sprint, thus my interest in your experiences.....thanks in advance.....

Mark,
Lee had a hard time

Mark,

Lee had a hard time learning to ride his Vendetta and fell quite a lot and has since sold it.

One of the things that curtailed Lee's initial efforts was some assembly problems from the LBS he had put the bike together for him. Apparently they did not secure the headrest with the provided scissor-jack clamp when Lee first started riding and his headrest was moving around a lot on him instead of being secured - makes me wonder what else might have been a bit wonky.

The reclined position on the Vendetta, like other significantly reclined recumbents can be more challenging to learn to ride. I've found that proper assembly and rider fit on the Vendetta is particularly important, else the bike won't feel right.

None-the-less, from some videos Lee posted he looked like he was starting to make some significant improvement but was still uncomfortable and decided to sell it.

Some folks never do get comfortable with the Cruzbike FWD/MBB format which is OK. If you are someone who does do well with it, they are an absolutely honking fun bunch of bicycles to ride, race, or just enjoy getting around on.
