I have got a Specialized FSR Y frame that I picked up in a yard sale for very little. I need a conversion kit to get started. Anybody?

You aught to post a picture of it here for the experienced member's opinions. That is unless you have previous experience.

I took up for you the other day, teacherbill. Someone on another thread said they saw a cruzbiker pulled off on the side off the road and frying eggs and bacon on his bare seat pan. Somewhere around Sarasota. They said it looked like you. Say it aint so, Bill.

Not me! Wrong coast of Florida. Sebastian in over on the East side where all the sharks are located along with a great amount of un-recovered Spanish gold from hurricanes gone by. Bacon and eggs also lead to a sticky seat......

Hi Dave is this your frame?

I only ask because back in the dim dark past I had ideas of converting such a frame, but in the end the Silvio was released and it worked out cheaper for a road machine. If you got the frame cheap and it is in good condition (it should rebuild okay if there is wear too) it could be just the ticket!
Sorry I can't offer comment on the suitability of the frame since I haven't built any conversions. But I have to say, to my untrained eye, it looks okay.

Hi John,
My short answer: "Don't know! Haven't got the faintest idea."
I do know Specialized have some pretty "trick" frames for their off-road machines, and I know they were/are light and compact and EXPENSIVE, particularly if one wants to buy a new one! I inquired, about 3 years back, about a similar frame from one of the local Specialized dealers here in Brizvagus, and got the drum that sometimes a frame or complete bike, that was a season old, might come up for sale. But even these were prohibitively expensive. They are supposed to be good, tough and light, and with their original drive train, put power to ground effectively.
Specialized used to, and probably still do have, some fancy animations on their website explaining why their frames and suspension systems are so good. Not being really interested in off-road capabilities, I didn't take much notice.

Still I'd like to know if this is the frame, or a similar one, to the one that Dave "docem" is hoping to convert.
Regards,
John R.

Wonder what the ID size of the front fork tube is? The bike store told me that the Avalon having a one inch ID would limit any future or better fork selections. 1-1/8 th is the preferred tube size, Right? Now that I think of it, This babies got to have the larger, I'm sure of it.
