    New, nervous and CANT WAIT!

I echo @Tulose about the stock seat. I have tried a Thor seat and find the stock seat fits me a bit better. To each his and her own, but I'd put a good bit of mileage and fitment time on the stock set up before switching.

S30 Appreciation Thread - And Post Pics of Yours!

Right. Any of the Hollowtech cranks cannot be shortened, which is why Bikesmith uses Sram cranks. I have a pair of Sram Apex cranks, shortened to 155 by Bikesmiths that I'm not using. Let me know if you're interested.

    Another chainstay question

You have the medium chainstay, which is what comes standard. To my eye, looking at just the one picture, your bb is maybe a little bit low, but not, "oh-jeez-get-that-man-a-large-chainstay" low. If you try the large, you might notice a small improvement in overall aerodynamics, but you might...

    V20 Pivot bolt and clamp

I went through this too--the creaking/clicking sound at this clamp. I initially solved it by sliding super thin mylar washers in between the inside edge of the boom clamp and the outside edge of the steerer tube clamp. The process is a little fussy, but it took care of the noise. Now what I...

V20 for sale in Southern California - SOLD

I recently put a fairly priced S40 up for sale here. It generated some looks and a few questions, but no real action. After a bout a month of that, I put it up on eBay and sold it within the first five-day auction. Yes, eBay did take their cut (nearly $400.00 for my particular sale), but it...

Yeah. I just figured you asked for "feedback"... ;)

    Just wondering...

I have both my S30 and a V20, and I love each one. The V20 is for going fast, long, and solo, while I use the S30 for more social rides and getting around town (putting a rack on it gave it lots of utility). If you can afford it, keep this bike and build up a V20 too.

    S40 Apex double

That looks like a first generation chainstay (V1), which is fine, but the shape of the fork dropouts and corresponding chainstay socket did change for the V2.0. The socket interface on the V1 was a 90 degree "round peg" fitting into a "round hole," while the V2 (and current V20) mate two...

    Just wondering...

This is basically a S30, the last iteration that had this rear suspension, but a rigid front end. They are sought after here, partly because they split the difference between the V20 and S40, and because only 100 S30s were made (or so I've heard). You could pitch this bike to potential buyers...

    S40 Apex double

Ah, that? No, it probably won't. The tube diameter on the 2.1 boom is larger, meaning that the V20 chainstay clamps won't have enough space between the bb cups and the boom tube. Forgot about that. I put a V20 front end on my 2.1 a few years back, so it has been a while since I've thought...

    Vosadrian's V20 Journey - Australia

My favorite handlebar is the Genetic Digest Flared Drop Bar (weird name, nice bar, with a bend that I like). The 44cm width keeps them narrow enough while the flare keeps hands and shifter blades out of the way of whirring legs. Light weight, reasonably priced at $50.00, but always on...

    S40 Apex double

The 2.1 and V20 chainstays are not quite the same. The dropout ends are the same, but the 2.1 clamps around the bottom bracket cups, while the V20 clamps just inside the cups. Both work, but for the 2.1 chainstay, the bottom bracket cups have to be flat in shape because they act as a clamping...

    New, nervous and CANT WAIT!

All I know is that I'm glad I didn't listen to the nay-sayers, most of whom seem to start their remarks with, "I've never ridden a Cruzbike, but it seems to me..." or, "I bought one and rode it for 50 miles, and decided..."

    They stole my Silvio

Hi @paco1961. I have a set of 155mm SRAM Apex cranks (also shortened by Mark) that I am not using. They're in fine shape. Let me know if you're interested. Also I swung a reduced price with Speed and Comfort for two sets of their carbon cranks, sans chainrings (just the arms and spindles)...

    Vosadrian's V20 Journey - Australia

My current rim brake 36mm carbon wheels are 24 front, 20 back, with bladed spokes in a 2-cross pattern, which adds strength and stiffness (bracing) over radial lacing. They have been great over the past five years--a nice balance between weight, strength, and aero (fewer spokes = more aero)...

    Osymetric chain rings

I have a set of these one the way. I'll be interested to hear how they are working for you, and will chime in when I have some mileage on mine.

    V20 crank length?

I am running Cobb's carbon cranks, which come in shorter sizes. Stiff, lightweight, pricey. I like 'em. I also like that it uses Shimano's bottom bracket interface, which I've always preferred to SRAM's.

    Vosadrian's V20 Journey - Australia

Just as a frame of reference on spoke count: I am 5'4" and weigh 130lbs, or 59kg. I have two sets of NOX 36mm carbon rims, 24 spoke drive wheel, 20 spoke non-drive wheel, laced in a 2-cross pattern with bladed spokes. I've had one pair on my V for five years, and the other pair on my S30 for...

    Vosadrian's V20 Journey - Australia

Jumping with my two-cents worth on the wheels. I was where you are about five or six years ago. While learning to ride the V, I pummeled a few aluminum front wheels to death because of pilot error. Use the current aluminum wheels to get through that phase, then put your good wheels on. The V...

    V20 crank length?

My understanding is that with recumbents, you want to avoid knee strain by keeping the knee from bending more than 90 degrees at the top of the pedal stroke. Shorter cranks helps this happen. That seems to be the largest metric to consider, and then you can fine tune your preferred crank...
