    Steering damper/stabilizer

I've now got ~120 miles on my I've now got ~120 miles on my Silvio counting about 4-6 "rides", and I have enough of a hang of it to be able to tool around the local sidewalks. The front-end is annoying when transporting or moving or 'standing' the bike, however. To the extent that it has...

Any front headlights mounted on the S30?

In the end I used the Gino In the end I used the Gino mount for the (second) rear light, and used the "Problem Solvers Braze-On Light Mount - Black" for the front. Works even better.

    Personal best downhill speed

57 mph down a pass in the 57 mph down a pass in the Alps where I was counting on wind resistance to slow me down instead of hitting the brakes and possibly causing the tubes to explode (I've had this happen). I may have tucked for a brief moment, just to see how fast I could go on the well...

I found a decent one made by I found a decent one made by Paul, and it is installed. It isn't black, but it'll be mostly obscured anyway. They also sell it in black. http://www.paulcomp.com/ginolightmount.html

Any front headlights mounted on the S30?

The Silvio 2.0 had two mounting tabs, but the S30 has only one. This means that the way people mount their front lights on the S30 must be different that it was for the 2.0. Anyone care to show-and-tell on how they mounted their front lights on the S30?

Paris or bust ... probably bust

I believe that the standard I believe that the standard cassette is an 11-36, not a 11-32, at least according to Robert in other threads w.r.t. Silvio S30s. Dunno if the V20 is different, but keep it in mind!

    It arrived

I'm surprised they (the CnC I'm surprised they (the CnC shops) didn't just try a round-over bit and a jig. Seems like the (made for cutting) wood round-over bits work OK on aluminum with decent coolant and slow turn speeds.

    Multi-Day Ride: 100 miles a day

What Marshal said... What Marshal says is spot-on. The hardest part of the day for me (on the ~2000 mile tours) was the morning, where I felt tired, sore, and stiff. 30 minutes to an hour later, everything was working and feeling fine again (with the possible exception of the saddle region...

    S30 derailleur hangar

Robert-- That is good to Robert-- That is good to hear! It'd be a nice improvement if the derailleur hangar was bolted on or was a one-piece thing (which would work because you just have to undo one bolt to switch out the one part for another if the hangar gets destroyed). On a more...

    S30 derailleur hangar

Strange.I got an S30, but Strange. I got an S30, but the derailleur hanger definitely just falls out. when I remove the wheel. I'll try the other one, I guess. Perhaps that one will have more interference and less chance of falling out!

    Multi-Day Ride: 100 miles a day

So, I've done some touring as So, I've done some touring as well, but it was (three weeks) in the Alps in summer. That meant that the temperature in the valleys was quite warm, but the temperature at the top of the mountain passes was... not. It is odd seeing snow in summer while riding a...

Adding crazy tilt assembly... but to which frame?

Adventures in fabrication! I've found someone willing to fabricate a prototype for me, hopefully starting in two weeks. Let's see how weird this feels!

Adding crazy tilt assembly... but to which frame?

The bell crank is.. The bell crank is on a slider because it allows the cam to do its thing to provide balance stability by raising/lowering the backend of the bike based on the tilt angle. Basically, in order to raise or lower the backend of the bike, you need to either shorten or...

Adding crazy tilt assembly... but to which frame?

Oh and also Oh, and there is one more cute thing about the rails-- if you allow the slider to slide up (i.e. as if there was a lifting force on the frame), the swing arms point straight down, at which point you can engage a pin or brake and store the bike in less floorspace. This isn't the...

Adding crazy tilt assembly... but to which frame?

it is a prototype! The rails are long because it will be easier to fabricate-- you buy the rails (linear guide) pre-made, but they're aluminum, and the rest of the assembly is cromoly (easier to weld/prototype). Welding aluminum to cromoly is not something I'd care to attempt. Were this to...

Adding crazy tilt assembly... but to which frame?

Bracket at the bottom. I should probably post more pictures in addition to the video, which didn't rotate enough to show the tab on the bottom. Basically, there is a tab (which is welded to the horizontal tube) which is attached to the *bottom* of the bracket via the two bolts which also...
