Silvio S30 fits into 26x26x10 travel case

I bought a Co-Motion Copilot travel case, which is a soft-shelled travel case with 26x26x10 external dimensions. This means that it can be checked as regular luggage. I was amazed to find that I could fit almost all of a (*completely* disassembled) Silvio S30 with its wheels into it without...

Adding crazy tilt assembly... but to which frame?

I'll try-- they're low priority. I'm preparing to bike from Key West to Maine (using the Silvio), and am mostly worried about logistics for that. Once I've arrived, or if I manage to deal with all of the logistics in time, I'll post the photos... they're already on the computer, just need to...

Adding crazy tilt assembly... but to which frame?

So, I got to ride the prototype today (which is good, since I'll be using the bike (in non-prototype mode) on a cycling adventure). The good: * Ride-quality: It is both awesome and strange. At low-speed there is waaaaaaay more stability. I totally believe that climbing really steep hills (and...

Adding crazy tilt assembly... but to which frame?

So, more progress today. Looks like the bottom mount there isn't strong enough to handle the weight. .. So we'll need to build a cross-brace (it isn't called prototyping for nothing). For now, looks like I'll have a place to mount luggage, so it isn't all bad. Next time I'll just build the...

Heh, yea. Still, I'm happy that my fabricator sends along any photos!

Do It Yourself (DIY) cover for Non-Drive wheel

I've always wondered why they don't make pivoting aerofoil shapes which cover spokes individually. (imagine a 2-d teardrop shape, extruded in length with the spoke as if to form a small wing, with a hole cut/extruded such that the spoke acted as a pivot for the aerofoil). Perhaps one day I'll...

The cam is here all put together. Cam mechanism from another angle. Note that the crosspiece is now cut and capped. Standing.

    Lock for Silvio S30

I'm a fan of the Pitlocks, having used them on previous touring bikes. Anyone tried the TiGr locks?

    Lock for Silvio S30

I'll be touring shortly with my S30, and was wondering what locks people use with them. AFAICT, there is a hole in the rear triangle section in the frame that is likely designed for a lock. It looks like it'd be one lock for the frame and then one lock for the front wheel? I was looking at the...

Adding crazy tilt assembly... but to which frame?

Bellcrank, rail, and rail holders all mounted. Looks like the roller mount may need strengthening. In a future version, the bellcrank could be lightened/shrunk a fair amount (perhaps to a 4" diameter instead of 6"). Not all of the radius would be in use and that material could be removed. For...

Adding crazy tilt assembly... but to which frame?

"Fallback" bellcrank. This one induces no balance assist, but allows it to act like a "regular" tilting trike.

Adding crazy tilt assembly... but to which frame?

Everything is in this picture (but not all done yet)! The slider plate (on which the bellcrank/cam is mounted) is made here (note that it is smaller than in the previous picture). The second adapter plate is made. The rail holder is made (but not bent into shape yet). This mounts to the top of...

    700 * 32C tyre on a new Silvio S30

Honestly, I haven't run it enough to know. I just carry a tube just in case, since it'd happily fit if I shred the tire. From what I've read of others experiences, the chances of a flat are smaller with the tubeless, and in many case it self-seals, so no needing to repair/pump in many/most cases.

    700 * 32C tyre on a new Silvio S30

My Schwalbe One tubeless 28s had some space left, but I didn't measure before sending the bike off to be modified (subject of other thread). Imho, these look dorky in comparison to my 23mm Duranos with the white stripe, but I decided that I disliked spinning-out the front wheel on steep hills...

Adding crazy tilt assembly... but to which frame?

More progress from my fabricator! 2x of 4x Tabs to hold the plate to which the ball-end is mounted (4x tabs per swing-arm) The tabs get welded to the headtube-part of the swing-arm, which then allow for the adapter plate to be mounted. This allows for future fiddling without doing more...

Adding crazy tilt assembly... but to which frame?

Status pictures from the fabricator. The first three are of the swing arms/swing arm parts. (#3 shows the tabs that will be welded to the barrel of the swing-arm mount). The fourth is the adapter plate mount (holds the rails). The fifth is the part where the QR mounts to the swing-arm.
