    Silvio seat

My carbon-fiber Volae seat mounting has two positions: A bit more upright than the standard S30, and a bit more reclined than the S30. After nearly 3000 miles on the tour, I can say that the more upright position is a winner, at least for touring on crappy roads. Here are the two factors that...

    Don't Snicker at a Vendetta

Admittedly this is on my S30, but I've had a couple of hundred people tell me "Nice Bike!" so far on the US East Coast tour I've been on. Just today, I counted 4 school buses full of kids, one garage mechanic "Now, thats the way to do it!", one traffic cop, two DF riders, and about 6...

Silly Silvio - you're not a mountain bike!

We chanced upon a singletrack while on the US east-coast tour a couple (few?) weeks back. It had rained the day before, so the trail was a bit slick. Managed to do most of it without getting off or walking. My partner, who was on a traditional touring bike had to stop and walk 3 times more (I'm...

CYCLIQ Fly 6 Rear LED Light & HD Camera

I have my fly6 mounted to the rear left fender bolthole, via a Paul Gino light mount, with a Nob mount then attached to the Gino mount, pointing up (i.e. the nobby bit is on top). I then strap the fly6 onto the Nob and Gino with the rubber bands that came with the Fly6. On the tour of the East...

    Silvio let loose

Nice! Hope you're getting comments of "Nice bike!" like I am on mine :)

Possible to mod for gates carbon drive and internal hub?

I doubt it-- the shoulders would be too wide for the standard clamp-diameter on the derailleur-stem/carboyoke adapter.

    Smaller wheels on the Vendetta?

Put an S&S coupler on the boom! Remove it for cruzbike mode. Put it back on for RWD mode :)

    700 * 32C tyre on a new Silvio S30

Yup, ACA. The east coast is very.. urban so far so there is a limit to beauty, but it was the only tour that fit my availability. In answer to the original question: According to the allen keys, 2 or 3 mm clearance on the top. 4mm to 4.5mm clearance on the sides.

    700 * 32C tyre on a new Silvio S30

Van supported. We're unlikely to do so, but I'll keep it in mind!

    700 * 32C tyre on a new Silvio S30

Cycling from Key West, Fl (southernmost point of the 48 contiguous states) up to Canada (via Maine). Should take 63 days total, of which we've already done 7 or 8. The silvio brag forum has some pictures of my setup, except that it doesn't show the 28s (it had 23s on for the photoshoot since...

Possible to mod for gates carbon drive and internal hub?

nah, you want an eccentric bottom bracket, like I said before. It is easier to deal with, and you still get the suspension, etc. of the carboyoke that is already there.

SRAM 11-speed 11-36 cassette for double chainrings?

The chain is too short. As in cannot even climb up into the gear. Making it long enough involves having chain slack in most gears; unacceptable. I'm fairly certain it wouldn't rip the derailleur off-- it will happily go at that angle, but there isn't enough chain to wrap around both the large...

    700 * 32C tyre on a new Silvio S30

Hard to measure on the campground, but eyeballing it I'd say perhaps 5mm all around.

SRAM 11-speed 11-36 cassette for double chainrings?

Act Actually, it has an 11-40 rear (aftermarket 40 tooth sprocket and 16t). Not all gear combos work (big-big is quite literally impossible), but I get 19 out of 20 gears and am generally quite pleased with the outcome. It is quite fiddly. I'd recommend getting regular q-rings for the 50t and...

Possible to mod for gates carbon drive and internal hub?

If you could get a new bottom boom part made with a tandem-sized BB that allowed for an eccentric BB, then it might work. It wouldn't be impossble if you have a mechanic who can weld aluminum nearby (take your boom to be modified and get someone to make a modified carboyoke holder/derailleur...

    700 * 32C tyre on a new Silvio S30

I'm running Schwalbe One 28s tubeless on Velocity Aileron rims. Works for me on my S30.

Silvio S30 fits into 26x26x10 travel case

I did take photos, but the campgrounds are without power, so I haven't been able to transfer/convert/upload/post them. Hopefully the next campground will have power!

Adding crazy tilt assembly... but to which frame?

Pictures uploaded! I am not the person appearing on the bike, however-- that is my fabricator. Tilting! (way more than you'd do in reality, probably) I wish I'd found the silver 20" aeroheat rims in time, but all I could get my hands on was the black. It would have been prettier...

Silvio S30 fits into 26x26x10 travel case

Hours. Then again much of that was because I kept attempting to *not* disassemble it, was using different foam (since I just had recovered foam and some pipe insulation from Home Depot). The pipe insulation plus a couple of "sheets" of soft foam material was key-- All of the various linear...

Silvio S30 fits into 26x26x10 travel case

That series of photos/description is what prompted me to try to fit into the 10" deep box (where I think you have fit everything into the 12" box?).
