    Q ring upgrade - Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh......

The pics Bob, I hope the above pics shed some light on things and provide answers to your questions about the set up. Even though the Q-rings feel just fine to me I still wonder if I have them set up properly. Kline

    Q ring upgrade - Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh......

Also Just re-read John's blog on this and happened to look at the pics. The middle pic appears to be a Silvio 1.0 in the early early yellow color; in any event, when I rotate my crank 70 deg backwards from BDC, my set up looks exactly like that photo. Never noticed that til just now. Kline

    Q ring upgrade - Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh......

Bob, Confusing, but All in all I think all the rings being discussed here are set up similarly. 1. When in the dead spot my crank arm is similar to Rick's. It is (without going out and measuring) 10-15 degrees below horizontal to the ground. 2. The spider arm that is essentially a...

    Q ring upgrade - Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh......

Q set up Bob, As per my usual luck, the photos I took this afternoon won't import to iPhoto. No idea why. So I will try to answer your question without a pic. The spider arm (leg?) opposite/in line with the crank arm is bolted to the hole in the chain ring that Rotor has pre-marked...

    Q ring upgrade - Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh......

Wonky Robert, maybe that's why a local Bachetta rider told me his Q-rings felt 'jerky' until he got used to them-- maybe they weren't (and maybe still aren't) set up right. If and when I run into him I will have to refer him to John's method so they won't be wonky ;-) KM

    Q ring upgrade - Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh......

Instructions Hi Bob, I followed the recumbent instructions as outlined by John Tolhurst. With my crank at 'dead bottom center' it was just about horizontal, so rotating back 70d the crank was just forward of vertical. I will have to look at the rings and bolts when I get home to...

    Q ring upgrade - Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh......

Q-rings When I set up my Silvio I followed Rotor's instructions for mounting the spider on the big ring just as a starting point. Then I followed John T's advice: found the DBC of my pedal stroke, then using the iPhone clinometer app as described by Randy Spann I backed the crank up 70 degrees...

    Discomfort from seat back

Also... I agree completely with the above two suggestions; also, it looks like your bars are positioned a bit low on the steerer tube but it's hard to tell from the pics. If so that low bar position will make it harder to get leg clearance if you move your bars further out. I'm sorry if I...

    Bullhorn and Dropbar Options

Brake levers Eric, yes now i see the difference in the mechanism of action between RL720/Soma and the EB or RT354AG. The latter are a bit like Avid levers. Glad you pointed that out. Will be interested to hear if the clamp diameter fits your bullhorn bars.

    Learning to ride again...

@robbins4 Yes, Monty and Jan. We go to the same church. Good people and avid riders. We love the Kettwiesels. Hope y'all can make the BBB ride. That is where i saw my first 'in person' Cruzbike....a guy from Louisiana on a Silvio passed me like i was sitting still. So i figured there must...

    Learning to ride again...

@robbins4: Another good ride (even though it's in August. In the Delta!!) is the Bikes, Blues, and Bayous ride, in and around Greenwood. Mostly flat. Several distances. Great local support. I plan to be there, either on Sofrider or Silvio, depending on how far my little group decides to go for...
