    Q ring upgrade - Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh......

I've been bouncing this I've been bouncing this around in my head. Still not sure if/when I want to pursue this (I'll ride more on my current 50/34 round rings before deciding) but I Googled around and it seems people out there are comfortable going 1 or 2 teeth bigger with Q rings than with...

Hi Larry, if you're Hi Larry, if you're running 52X34 (not 36) then that's an 18 tooth gap. How is the shifting working for you? I was considering something like that.

    Lessons from my recent stupidity

You guys were right of You guys were right of course, a bunch of grease in the right places got rid of the creaking. I'm still going to be extra careful with that bolt/clamp, though.

Riding in Rain on a Quest

I would lubricate I would lubricate metal-on-metal interfaces with a standard goopy bike grease, regardless of whether I planned on riding in the rain. Grease prevents binding and creaking.

    My Journey Begins...

Jim, that might work, however Jim, that might work, however the product page says the clamp will fit a 1 1/4" tube and the Silvio boom measures a bit larger. Also if the mounting rod is too wide (hard to tell from the product page) then your ankles or legs might hit it. I've been...

    Ultra-Mod Softrider Progressing

As for getting hi res images A couple of ways (neither super straightforward): Use an image editor to up the compression or your JPEG before you try to upload to the Cruzbike servers. I usually have to get images under 300k for them to be accepted. You can also decrease the resolution if...

    Quest frame flex tested

Hi Billy, I could be wrong Hi Billy, I could be wrong but I think that since you mounted your dowel high up below the handlebars, your results do not distinguish flex/twisting in the steerer extension tube from flex in the boom. I'm curious whether the results would improve at all by lowering...

    Lessons from my recent stupidity

Thanks for the feedback.Yes, Thanks for the feedback. Yes, I believe the clamp will still work fine as a clamp and the bolt will still tighten down with this minor damage. I do wonder though if the creaking I'm hearing now is from the minor damage. Maybe the right thing to do is just to...

    Lessons from my recent stupidity

A couple of weeks ago I noticed some new creaking sounds from the boom area of my Silvio, which had been silent since the last time I greased and tightened everything. The sounds appeared to be coming from the slider clamp (which clamps the boom above the fork). After some disassembly I...
