    How much to buy?

i want to do the LEL too. Ever since reading about it in a UK cycling magazine I bought at a local bookseller. For the record, the writers in the UK are top-notch. Best cycling publication I have seen in a long time. Good luck with your knee and in getting your dream 'bent. I know the...

those things don't do hills well

thanks to you John, you have designed an amazing line of bikes. I have ridden several recumbents, and none allowed me to ride as well as I do on the Silvio.

    How much to buy?

how much to buy... Alright, Tiggertoo. Here are my thoughts. First, you mention that "it is all so expensive". I agree that the Silvio is not cheap, but if you look at it in terms of return on investment, it is a bargain. Fully-equipped, a Silvio can be nicely outfitted for around $3,500. If...

those things don't do hills well

"Those things don't do hills well." A fellow rider made that statement to me on the first Wednesday night shop ride I attended just this past week. The ride used to be part of my routine until last year after becoming too ill to ride. I didn't miss the ride like I thought I would, but since I...

    Creak solved

now that i know it's called a gudgeon pin... Where can I find replacement bolts for mine? Mine are corroded quite badly and are an eyesore on this gorgeous machine.

Mounting Radical Bags to back of seat

Ken's Silvio is a Tardis? Eric...after you're done with it, come pick me up. I have a few things I'd like to see in my future. Ken...the bags look great. You're a braver man than I to take a power tool to your Silvio, but wow...the results look great.

options to make bike more visible to on coming traffic in foggy weather?

reflective tape While they provide a diminished effect in fog, adhesive reflective strips are cheap, work well in low-light situations and can add a bit of visual flair to your Silvio frame. As for lighting, I am still looking for the ideal solution. I am leaning toward a helmet-mounted kit...

    Aero wheels

^ That is a gorgeous Silvio I love the deep carbon Boyds on your Silvio; they make a fast bike look even more agressive.

making a silvio purchase and will be a first time buyer

Congratulations on your Silvio purchase I have to say that was a pretty fast decision. I have been on this forum a long time and wanting a Silvio; it's been just about a month now that I've had mine. It is the most amazing bike I have owned and the more I ride it, the more I want to ride it. Be...

    Did you ride today?

135+ Miles Per Week In response to "thebean"... I average the same mileage as you just with my daily commute and have yet to spend two hours in the seat of the Silvio as my usual ride stops at 13.5 miles. I don't consider myself a strong rider, but with the Silvio, I can easily maintain a 17...

    Help with Sofrider headtube

Why not a 28.6mm Seatpost Clamp? Hi Doug. I am not questioning your knowledge, but why would a standard seatpost clamp work as a replacement? Barry, as for extracting the bolt, there is a special type of drill bit commonly known as an easy out. That might work.

    Kind Shock Pump - Wanted

Found one! Nevermind. I should have thought to go direct to the source for one of these. Thanks, Cruzbike. :-)

making a silvio purchase and will be a first time buyer

I'd go for the Silvio Yes, it is a different experience with a bit of a learning curve; you'll not likely hop on and ride off, especially if you've not been on a recumbent before. Even a typical rear drive recumbent will take some time to get used to. Most of your cycling skills will transfer...

    Kind Shock Pump - Wanted

Anyone have an extra Kind Shock pump? I used a regular shock pump at my LBS and it seemed to work, but I would prefer to have the proper accessory. Thanks.

First "Real" Group Ride on a Silvio

We do need more bent riders As people finally catch on and realize what they're missing, we'll slowly grow our numbers. For now, it's fun to mix things up with the upright crowd.

    Component Option

I have a Campy Triple too... ...and so far, I have never used the granny gear. I prefer doubles to triples anyway and the WiFli system has a definite appeal to me in that regard. The only downside I can see is the compact crankset; I need a 53 x 11 combination at times to keep from spinning out.

First "Real" Group Ride on a Silvio

It has been a long time since I took part in a group ride do to a year and a half of illness, recovery and relapse and the fact that I simply lost interest in cycling as recreation. To my own surprise, I had the itch to join the local Friday night ride, named The Big Easy, which is 20 miles...
