    Memorial Day Discrimination

SWEET! Well then - it couldn't get much better then could it, especially since we are officially in the same class? We'll have to ask Kevin to bring his spare Vendetta - and let (rent!) the guy to ride it during the night session after he can't stand the pain any longer! :)

HPV Fun Day at Hellyer Velodrome

I think "they" say that the inside "track" is banked at 10 degrees for inline skating. I can't remember even thinking it was banked at all when using it for a warmup area however.

HPV Fun Day at Hellyer Velodrome

The Brian Piccolo velodrome is max'd out at 30 degrees, but man, when you are walking on it, or riding really slow up high, you would swear it was at least 45! http://www.broward.org/Parks/BrianPiccoloPark/Pages/Velodrome.aspx

HPV Fun Day at Hellyer Velodrome

CCF - Great report and pictures! Veledromes are fun, but they do take some getting used to, especially the highly banked ones. I rode the one down in Fort Lauderdale for the first time this past Feb. I did OK, but it was definitely hard to hold a line and keep full power going through the turns...

    Memorial Day Discrimination

That's a real bummer Joe. I hope everything works out eventually. You know, it might sound crazy, but they might not be so pissed off if you let them beat you about 1/2 the time. (Especially the lbs owner). Just fill your frame with buckshot or something to slow youself down. You know you can...

Enjoy the Extra day U.S. riders.

Glad you survived your "strange" episode. Will be curious what happens after they "wire" you up. Make sure to get some good pictures!

Diet: Low Carb and Ultra Cycling

Well said Jerry. For me, what you have stated is always implied with diets, exercise, even training and racing. Each of us has to continually experiment and find the "things" that work best for us. Something that works extremely well for one, may not work for the other - and neither person may...

    Slow Ride

So - I think I am having a bad brain day - 'cause after all that, I still couldn't figure out if you "passed" her to let her ride in peace, or if you "stayed behind her" to let her ride in peace? :) Not that it really matters one way or the other - at least she got to ride in peace!

    2016 Calvin's Challenge video

Kevin and I where just talking about this! We are already planning to do the 24 in Sebring in 2017 since they repaved the track (Track was the biggest downer - really rough, ruts, holes, cracks, and bad lighting) This would be the perfect venue for high mileage! Marko B. did 533 this year - will...

    2016 Calvin's Challenge video

Thanks Jason - It would have been real hard to go much faster with those conditions (although I did slow it down a little the last 2 hours before Billy passed me. (I guess if you're not close to a record, then you do what you have to to win). Last year I did 264 miles practically solo since I...

    Slow Ride

A person could fall asleep with that much spare time - that's why I ride mostly on the track. Still have to dodge dogs and frisbees sometimes, but rarely have to stop. :)

    Yellow Vendetta medium chainstay

I needed to "test" out a large chainstay - and the "yellow" one from V2.<whatever>, seemed to work just fine for my V20. The only thing I had to do was "grind" out the space for the derailleur hanger a little. .. I am not sure about the new grey V20, but to the best of my knowledge the red and...

A Proposed Method to Fight Cancer: Starve it.

Nice Post Jim. I really believe that God created our bodies to overcome extraordinary things. But all the things we (society) have done to our food supply (pesticides, hormones, genetic modifications, etc) has certainly taken it's toll on us. It is so simple really: just eating right and getting...

    FYI: Forums Organization Pending.

Heck - I just love it when threads drift into other conversations. It's a hoot to me, but I can see how it makes it hard to find past conversations you really want to find also.

    2016 Calvin's Challenge video

Thank Jon - I was a real "nail-bitter" of a race. And I can honestly say I was sure praying "a awfully lot that day"! I think in all of the "victories" that all of us have (learning to ride Cruzbike, first Century, besting a DF up a hill, sprinting for the city limit sign, etc), there is also...

    2016 Calvin's Challenge video

Too many projects - too little time! (I've still got all these bikes to test too! - When am I going to do that!) Sorry, I have been a slacker - not really - but this past weekend we just finished moving from one house to another - took up most of my "free" time. Now a mountain of boxes to...

Diet: Low Carb and Ultra Cycling

Just buy some cashews, soak them for a day, mash them up into a pulp and squeeze them through cheese cloth - there you have it! I did this to make my own Almond milk. I think all the "nut" milks are pretty much made the same way. It did it because I didn't want to pay the high price for the...
