    My first 55 miles.....

Thanks for the ideas.  I Thanks for the ideas. I don't travel much, but when I do, I like to travel light. The only time I want to travel with a bike is when I ride it (or driving to a group ride, in which case it's in the back of my truck, so no folding). I'm in a holding pattern for...

    My first 55 miles.....

Well, I'm still trying to Well, I'm still trying to gauge his interest. He's almost big enough to ride my old DF (a decent Felt road bike), and he's actually pretty excited about that. I think he'll be tall enough for it this summer. He's growing fast these days. If he's still interested...

    My first 55 miles.....

I bought a Silvio in back in I bought a Silvio in back in June and have been loving it. I put around 1500 miles on it so far. I went for a bike ride with my son (who is 11) this weekend. He has a kid's mongoose mountain bike. Anyway, to keep less of a speed differential between us, I...

    Did you ride today?

I'm glad to hear that you are I'm glad to hear that you are making progress Mick. 29 on a flat is not too shabby! Here's a question to you Q-ring owners - did any of you have an ultegra triple before the Q-rings? If so, which Q-ring set did you replace it with (if you replaced just the...

    Pedal Steer

pedalling backwards I played with pedalling backwards today too...doesn't bother me either. How about pedalling with one foot unclipped? I can too that too. I just wish I had a place to rest the unclipped foot!

    Pedal Steer

+1 on leaning +1 on lean steering. I found myself thinking the other day that I was steering like I would on a motorcycle. I don't intentionally steer with my feet, ever. I do sometimes intentionally steer with my hands (when I am going to slow for leaning to work). I think riding...

I’m sure this will be a hot debate. What chain oil do you use?

Gold I use the gold one, here: http://www.rocklube.com/ You put it on, run your chain a bit, then wipe it off. Works like a champ. I think Steve is probably right though. What matters most is just keeping the chain clean and dry.

    CycleMeter iPhone app

I have always loved this iPhone app, but figured one day I'd cough up the dough and get a Garmin for the nice online data presentation and powermeter interoperability (two things that Cyclemeter lacked). Cyclemeter just came out with a new version today that has very nice online ride data...

2,000 Miles on my Sofrider this year!

Me too! Hey Charles, I just passed 2000 miles for the year too! Also a record season here. Tarmac - check out CycleMeter on iPhone. It has all the stats that Charles showed up there (of course you need external sensors for Cadence and heart beat data). It's not as nice as a...

    Did you ride today?

what a difference a week makes I rode the same route last Saturday as I did today. Well, actually I took a bit of a shortcut near the end of the route today (1 mile shorter) because I was running out of daylight. Last week's ride was great. I averaged 18.6 over 54 miles! This is record...

    Mirror for Silvio

Zefal Spy Mirror Seeems like that Miracycle mirror really sticks out more than a mirror should. I like this Zefal Spy mirror that Cruzbike sells. http://www.cruzbike.com/zefal-spy-mirror-usa-only I've had mine for almost 2000 miles now and it has never fallen off and it has very...

    Did you ride today?

At least I'm not the only At least I'm not the only one. That's a cool roller. Pricey, though. I havent seen that one before. I did well on rollers on my DF but I can't ride them long on the Silvio. There's too much forward and backward rocking and I keep falling off. So my plan for...

    Did you ride today?

35 miles this morning I took half the day off from work and used 2 hours of that on myself, on a ride. It was a cold morning. There was frost on the grass as I left, and it was about 37 degrees. I wore 3 layers of clothes on top and 2 on bottom. By the time I got home I was down to a single...

Eric -   If it's any help for Eric - If it's any help for your baseline comparison, I have some ride data of me riding an old mountain bike on the roads vs me on a DF vs me on a Silvio. My avg on the moutainbike was 14.4 mph over about 650 miles of riding. That was when I was just...

Training: Mountains, Power Meters and Heart Rate Zone Training

wow Wow, Dan that's a LOT of cycling! Amazing. And the fact that it's in the mountains makes it even more so. As I look at my ride data for the year (I'm around 1800 miles at present and a mere 43000 feet of climbing), I'll be happy if I make it to 2,000 miles for the year...
