I've got Campy Mirage shifters. Jack seems to have no troubles with the cables coming out the side of the shifters. In looking at it, I think the cables are high enough, it would be no trouble. I'm ordering the same bar for my conversion, except I'll run Paul Thumbies on it. Mark

Treker, Welcome to the forum! Standard mountain bike wheels should be plenty beefy for touring. I think the issues they are having with the front wheels is due to machine built wheels that need to be touched up by human hands, especially after riding for awhile. That would be my humble...

Personally, I think hydration system would be my biggest concern. The radical bags like Jack has would be fine for commuting, or credit card touring. I wouldn't want them on there for an every day club ride, but that's just me. I would like to see some sort of hydration system that mounts...
