    Newbie S40 Build Details

After posting the "pix" request I said to myself, "Self, I hope he shows the RV in the background." :)

    Looking for Purchasing Advice

Buy direct. I've bought four frame kits from Cruzbike since 2008 and all have been easy purchases with fast delivery and no shipping damage. I've also bought a pile of accessories...same great service.

    Wider Acceptance

LOL. More likely, 100,000 thinking "why is there a handicapped guy on the show?" I regularly surprise people when I get up off the V20 and walk around.

Charlotte Motor Speedway (CMS) - 10 mile TT - new recumbent record

I'd be happy to contribute to the airfare. Getting Jason to agree might be problematic though...no hills! Can he stand to be bored for 17 minutes? Kids, y'know...:D

    Wider Acceptance

I reserve (faint?) hope that an already existing umbrella organization might be so inclusive as to add 'recumbent' as one of their basic categories. In my feeble old mind, that would be the UCI. I would expect this to actually happen in the future (although perhaps not in my lifetime!). Their...

    S40 questions

I think this discussion of racing ought to be moved to the racing forum. I think you'll get more commentary there. We're still in the early stages of the evolution of recumbent racing. At this point, I think we're still going to have to race in various categories to comply with safety issues...

T50 - whatcha planning to build.....

700c x28 fit nicely on mine. I posted a pic a while back. The tire is a Vittorio Rubino @ 100psi. About 5-6mm of clearance to the fork crown. Much more on the sides. T50 - 700 X 28 Clearance by trapdoor2 posted Jul 9, 2017 at 11:15 PM

Charlotte Motor Speedway (CMS) - 10 mile TT - new recumbent record

Damn. I wish I could go to Charlotte, just to watch! I have to reserve my vacation time for the October Cruzbike ride in White Lake. Don't have enough reserve to burn on a trip to CMS. I wonder if they do similar bike races at Talladega? Or Nashville?

    T50 seat advice needed

Very generally, it is the wheelset, not the frame that is the limiting factor. Having been thru this (starting at 375lbs), I simply went with very robust wheel builds (32 spoke, minimum, etc.) and haven't had any issues with pretty hard use of my V2/ks. It helps that they have full suspension. I...

CruzBike Marketing ain't got nothing on these guys

LOL. No, really, I LOL'd. Right here in my cube. Out loud. You need to post that to BROL. I think Bryan just reviewed one of those...

    XShifter...new wireless shifting option

Latest update: finally in production with 100 units complete and in final QA. No sign of the app yet in the app store...should be soon. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for an early Sept. delivery...

    Tandem, anyone?

Motivation is everywhere. My folks bought a tandem in post-war Japan because there were few cars and very little gasoline. I restored it back in the 60's so that my cousin and I could see how fast it could go. I re-modified it in the '70's to convert it from 3sp. to 10sp...but rarely got to ride...

Me again with question about wheel hop

Well said. There's nothing "unfair" about asking questions; there's no requirement for anyone in particular to respond...but there are nuggets in any response. Much better than getting nothing but 'crickets' from the peanut gallery. o_O:):cruzbike:

Me again with question about wheel hop

Glad the solution was easy and all's well. It is very difficult to describe such issues via text (and equally as hard to try to help). Nothing like actually being there! :)

Me again with question about wheel hop

Most people simply do not "think thru" the physics of such things. They think, "brakes are brakes, spokes are spokes...and never the twain shall meet." Loose spokes tend to become a cascading failure: one spoke leads to two which leads to many. If you have quite a few spokes that are loose, you...

Me again with question about wheel hop

LOL, I'm a 'clydesdale', I tend to punish wheels...I guess that makes me more familiar with re-truing wheels than most. When I built my first 'Cruzbike Conversion', I used a Walmart donor bike that I bought for less than $100. Before I had 20 miles on it, both wheels were so out 0f...

Me again with question about wheel hop

I have found it pretty common to require 'factory' wheels to be re-trued after the first X-number of miles. Spokes stretch initially and then take a 'set'. You may simply need to take it to your LBS and have it trued. Custom wheel-builders will do this 'stretch-and-re-true' before delivering a...

T-50 Deluxe Black Cruiser - Front Fender

It should have a metal "L" bracket that bolts to the fork. I don't have these fenders...but looking at the Woody's website, they all show the standard "L" bracket. If one isn't present, that would indeed be a problem!
