Titanium Bike frame for $250 AU

Yes, I was trying to imply all this when I mentioned stress analysis. All of this work required prior to even starting with the printing company is very expensive...and takes time. A good stress guy, some finite element analysis, etc., etc. This could easily double the cost of the print job, if...

Titanium Bike frame for $250 AU

Interesting! The programming costs are probably based on pre-existing models (as in, 'send us your frame and we'll convert it to Ti'). I would hope one would not simply re-create the current V20 frame in Ti. It should be designed for the material it is being made, er, printed from. Such...

T50 - whatcha planning to build.....

I test-mounted the 559 wheel from my V2/k cruzer, which has a 2.1" Schwalbe "Big Apple" tire mounted. Fit was no problem...although I didn't measure the clearances at the time.

100psi. That is a Vittorio Rubino 700x28 tire on a Velocity Deep V rim.

T50 - whatcha planning to build.....

No holes...you can look at the pix on the T50 kickstarter page that shows a bike with mudguards. It has a couple of clamps on the fork to hold the mudguard stays. I just received my chrome fenders for my T50 and I'll probably have to come up with some sort of similar system.

Equipment List For An S40 Build

I put the HY/RD brakes on my V20 and would not hesitate to put a set on an S40. Easy to install, easy to set-up...have worked perfectly.

Titanium Bike frame for $250 AU

I'm just hoping I live long enough to get an outdoor treadmill so I can take Astro out for his daily walk...

Titanium Bike frame for $250 AU

Holy crap. If this is half what they say it is, it will revolutionize the metal manufacturing sector completely. They're not only printing with Titanium, but virtually any other metals. If it pans out, the metal removal industry (machine-shop) will go the way of the hand loom. Luddites unite...

T50 - whatcha planning to build.....

Great headrest, I have one on my Baron. The rods on it are easily 'reconfigured' (bent) so that you can position it anywhere. Nicely flexible when mounted...good shock absorber. I put a lot of miles on mine.

Equipment List For An S40 Build

Looks really good to me. Gearing is very similar to what I'm running on my V20 (except I'm running an 11sp setup). I have trouble with some of the hills here in south Huntsville...but that's a powerplant issue. I think the seating position of the S40 would allow me to creep along at lower...

What did you do to your Cruzbike today?

Finally got the old V2/k cleaned up and rejuvenated. New tires (Vittorio Rubino 700x28's), new chain (waxed, etc.). Shined up, with full re-adjustment on all derailleurs (triple and 11-36 X0). Took her out yesterday morning for my usual Sunday morning 25miler...performed as usual, very comfy...

    XShifter...new wireless shifting option

Got another update...still problems. Looks like one of their suppliers 're-designed' a component without permission...and it failed last-minute testing. Product was ready to go out the door when it failed and the investigation revealed that the problem couldn't be band-aided...had to be built...

T50 - whatcha planning to build.....

Since the clamps just sit on top of the bottom struts, the bottom struts are the ones to trim. Essentially, you open up the clamps, disassemble (the clamps will just slide off) and trim. Because of the curve in the top struts, the clamps will only go so far into that curve...so you trim the...

T50 - whatcha planning to build.....

I deburred my extension right off the bat...never considered I should say something about it. Any time I come across a slip-fit like this, I run my fingers (gently) around all the surfaces, inside and out and make sure they're clean. If not, I file or sandpaper until they are. Makes them...

T50 - whatcha planning to build.....

First of all, the head-tube has to support the headset bearings. So, it shouldn't be painted (the bearings have to slip over the tube with the least possible clearance, etc.). You could paint the exposed portion after assembly, of course, but most people would prefer to slip an already finished...

T50 - whatcha planning to build.....

This is a far weaker situation than the standard. The pressure from pedaling would likely bend the extension forward. You want to keep that force vector (top tube) as close to the head joint as possible to create the strongest link between pedals and headset.

T50 - whatcha planning to build.....

No. My cranks will be 155mm in length. With an old-school square-taper BB, you have to choose how long you need the axle to be to get an optimum chainline (between front chainring and rear gear). Because I will be running a single chainring, I don't need much axle width (would need wider if I...

T50 - whatcha planning to build.....

Yah, I'm running 155mm arms, so that helps. I went ahead with the 113. We'll see what happens when it all gets here. The rims I'm getting laced to the Alpine are Velocity "Blunt", so mo' widah be mo' bettah.

T50 - whatcha planning to build.....

Yah, the Origin8 site has no chain-line info on their cranks (that I could find). I read thru all the Sheldon Brown stuff this morning...good info but no specific help there. Same goes for figuring out the Alfine 8 chainline...which could be any of three combinations of drive gear (dished...

T50 - whatcha planning to build.....

OK...sourcing a bottom bracket. Standard 68mm square taper cartridge type...but what width? 109? 113? I'm going to be running an Origin8 crank with a single 110BCD chainring...
